The Witch

Violet found herself in the bathtub submerged in the clear water. She was incredibly tired that night; her body was taking longer to recover, considering it's been a week since her so-called 'Great escape'. She reckons it must've been because of the Waning moon. She was always at her weakest during these times, she noted.

Her mind was in a haze, and she debated whether or not it was time for her to get out of the tub, considering the once warm water had now turned cold.

She looked down at her hands, her fingertips wrinkled, and decided it was time to get out of the tub.

She reached to grab the towel hanging by the rack when her whole body tensed. She just sensed something dark coming. And it was coming fast.

She hurriedly wrapped the towel around her bare body and hid.

Focusing her heightened hearing, she listened to her surroundings. She sensed footsteps fast approaching the front door. She knew it was not human, and she was sure of it...no ordinary human moved that fast.

THUD!

SPLAT!

Were the synchronized sound of her apartment door, unhinging, and hitting the wooden floors in a thud.

'Shit' she thought, her eyes widening, this one was strong, she concluded.

Raven haired man in his late 20's stepped over the unhinged door and entered the apartment, entering the place was easier than he anticipated. The door had fallen with just a simple kick.

This was too easy, he thought. There wasn't even any barrier.

His obsidian orbs scanned the surroundings swiftly. And his thin lips quirked up on one side when the scent hit his senses. The whole place smelled delicious.

It was the sweet smell of a human: a woman to be precise, his favourite.

He wondered for a moment, is it the hybrid's woman?

Should I kill her in front of him?

Or should I eat her?

He was feeling peckish after all, he travelled for so long and so far to get there.

He should really eat something; it was the logical approach.

"Come out, come out wherever you are," he called out, amused. His voice sent chills down Violet's back.

The Vampire sniffed the air, and he blurred towards the bathroom. He pulled the shower curtain open swiftly, and he raised a curious brow.

It was empty.

But whoever it was, was still there. The scent was strong; they were there recently.

He strutted out the bathroom and stood in the hallway, scanning the empty corridors of the magnificent apartment in the centre of New York City.

"Don't make this difficult, I can smell you. " He said out loud.

*step*

Aldren smiled; he knew he wasn't alone. He turned behind him, to look at the brave prey.

His smile grew wider when he saw the sight before him, a woman with platinum blonde hair and the most vibrant pair of violet eyes he'd ever seen was wrapped in a towel dripping wet.

"Hello, darling." He said, appreciating the fantastic view.

He'd lived long enough, 'too long' many would even say, to know how to appreciate beauty when he sees one. And the woman before him was one of those rare beautiful things.

He took a step forward, eyeing her exposed milky skin.

Violet stared back at the man, no, based on his scent and aura he was the monstrosity the world had many times fantasized about.

A Vampire.

And she kills vampires.

Violet raised her right hand and felt her body start to grow warm, nature filling her every cell.

"Hello, vampire," she replied, summoning fire.

WHOOSH!

Aldren's eyes widened for a second, the human had called him a vampire, and he knew she wasn't just an ordinary human.

He took a step back when he felt fire erupting before him out of thin air, and before he could escape, it had encircled him completely.

Trapping him.

The playfulness that was once on his chiselled face changed. As he glared at the woman, no! A WITCH!

His kind's worst enemy.

Violet's eyes shifted towards the display fastened on the wall, two large wooden stakes.

She raised her hand, and it flew towards her, catching it easily. With a stake on each hand, she turned towards the man. He stood 2 inches north of six feet, body chiselled under his shirt, and his black mane framed his features beautifully.

"Don't you vampires have manners?" she asked, and he watched her silently.

"Don't know the word 'Knock?" she added, mockingly.

Aldren's lips quirked into a snide grin,

"I was never a fan of manners, darling." He said behind the fire still burning around him.

Violet chuckled at his response, what a pompous beast. Their kind had always felt above humans, feeding on them, manipulating them, using them for their own pleasure.

"Well I'm not a fan of hospitality either," she said, positioning the stake in her hand and using magic she catapulted it towards him.

Hitting him right through the chest.

She expected him to disintegrate as all vampires do. But he remained standing there, with a stake embedded through his chest looking at it in morbid fascination. Then he looked at her with an expectant look on his face, as if saying 'Anything else?'.

A scoff passed Aldren's lips, at the shocked reaction on her face. Her bright violet eyes grew even more vibrant.

Sam clenched her jaw, annoyed. But she wasn't going to give up, it was either him or her.

She gripped the remaining stake in her hand tightly, and with more power than before she sent it once again towards him. Stronger, faster.

But in her surprise, he managed to catch it inches away from him.

And as if that wasn't enough to shock her, the man stepped out of the fire, and he didn't erupt into flames as normal vampires do.

"What the hell?" Violet said under her breath, puzzled. What the actual fuck was happening? She mentally asked herself. Was she seeing things? How was that possible? What was he?

All these questions ran in her mind.

Aldren patted his jacket sleeve for a moment, killing the small fire on it.

"You're some tough witch, aren't you?" He said, as he slowly pulled the stake out his chest.

He sighed in exaggerated disappointment, and with a mock pout, he turned to look her in the eye.

"This is one of my favorite shirts, and you put holes and bloodstains in It," he said with a devious smile playing on his lips.

Then he blurred and disappeared out of her sight.

The next thing she knew, she felt the air being knocked out of her lungs. And her body hitting the floor with a thud, with his hand wrapped around her neck.
