“Cade?”
“I found your ex-husband and he signed away his parental rights,” Cade said.
She eyed him both happy and furious at the same time. “You went behind my back?”
“Yes, I guess I did. I did what I thought was right.”
“I don’t understand.”
“I want to adopt Keegan.”
She let the words hang in the air. Was he serious? That meant that he was thinking of the future. A future that included her and Keegan. She leaned back in the seat. “You’re sure?”
“Yes, Rose. I want you in my life. Now and forever. That means Keegan, too, obviously. I want to actually be his father in every way I can. I can’t rewind time and be his actual biological father, but I can be there when it counts.”
She studied him and she knew at that moment that she’d was falling even deeper in love with the man. “You’re stepping up?”
“I’m stepping up Rose. I want us to be an official family.”
“You don’t want to back out given the trouble we’ve brought to your life?” she asked.
