Chapter 32: Cade Explains

“That was a pretty dog,” Keegan said through a yawn.

He’d gotten dirt on his pajamas when he’d sat in the grass with Cade’s wolf form. Rose couldn’t be mad at him because she’s seen such joy on his face when he was playing. There might be a few moments like that depending on what happened in the next few weeks.

She hated that her parents were going to drag them through a custody battle. She couldn’t believe that any judge would take Keegan away from her.

She’d done her best in raising him and she didn’t think she’d done such a bad job.

“He was.”

Rose kissed her sleepy son’s heady and left him in his room.

She and Cade had a lot to talk about.

He was sitting on her back porch, a glass of wine on the table for her and a blanket. The night was getting chilly.

“Thanks,” she said as she wrapped it around her.

“Is Keegan asleep?” Cade asked.

“Out like a light. I guess he had some more energy to burn off. Thank you for staying in wolf form.”
