chapter 5

Hello, is this neo?

A beep could be heard in the ice cream girls room, she grabbed her scroll and looked lazily at it. The unkown contact gave her a small bit of hope to speak to the tall man.

Yes this is neo, would this happen to be hans gunsche?

The tall man looked at the message, unaware of the team watching him.

That is me. I'm sorry for not contacting you sooner, but I did not have a scroll at the time.

Her mouth was left agape at the statement. What kind of person doesn't have a scroll in this day and age? She excitedly typed away on the scroll.

That's hard to believe but you don't look like the most... technological person.

He stoicly looked at the message, the world tinted red.

"going to fail her as well? Maybe even snap her neck, tear her heart out like you did to mother?" My breathing heightened, my blood sped up, and my eyesight blurred.

Inside the dorm of team RWBY, hans was stood leaning against a wall looking at his scroll.

Yang didn't particularly care, blake was reading a lewd book, Ruby noticed his eyes dilating and weiss noticed his body go stiff again.

The two locked eyes and nodded while hans walked out of the room.

The two got up and followed after the security guard.

"yesterday, hans seemed to panic at seemingly nothing. I think it's happening again." Ruby whispered into her friends ear.

"I believe so. Let's follow him." The two left the room after him but noticed that he was visibly distracted.

They followed after him and noticed that he occasionally muttered to himself. But eventually, he stopped at the roof, where jaune and pyrrha could be seen.

"I don't want to be the damsel! I want to be a hero... I don't belong here pyrhha, I faked my transcripts. I'm a damn fool..." we watched hans suddenly turn to Mist, the Mist thinned until eventually we couldn't see him.

Jaune ran past us, tears in his eyes and pyrrha called out to him... but to no avail. The champions eyes widened at seeing her friends.

"please don't tell goodwitch!" Ruby seemed completely fine with that, however, the heiresses distaste for the situation was quite obvious.

"fine. But you better find a way to train him. Not only is his inexperience risking his life, but also your teams lives." The spartan nodded, well aware that he was endangering the team.

She ran past after the blonde Knight while Ruby and weiss advanced, not forgetting their original goal.

Ascending the stairs to reach the peak, they saw hans... looking longingly over the balcony.

"you... are strong... you are... a soldier..." He muttered those words out like a mantra, something he lived by, as if he's lived like that his whole life.

"a soldier? Maybe winter knows him? Ruby, you said he has amnesia." Weiss whispered her concerns to her partner.

"that's what ozpin believes. But... after hearing that, I don't think he's right." He tightened his grip on the railing and saw that he was crushing the metal with his bare hands.

They were both left agape by his strength. He spun around but Ruby had already grabbed weiss and burst into petals before he could see them.

The two found themselves back inside their dorm room and Ruby was panting.

"that... was close." The white haired girl nodded in agreement.

"indeed. He almost saw us."

It was the day of the trip to forever fall and hans found himself inside of ozpins office.

The grey haired man sipped his drink and stared the youngster in the eyes.

"do you know why you're here today, Mr günsche?" The man was confused but didn't show it.

"no..." ozpin took out his scroll and showed it to hans. On the device, a man was shown, his body was covered in metal and he had a sort of red eye covering on his face with what seemed to be a metal body.

"this is a former atlas specialist, his name is monsoon. He was let go for his harsh neglect of his subordinates. Afterwards he joined a group called desperado and is the only surviving member. We know he is currently holding out somewhere in vacuo and I want you to locate and either kill or capture him." Hans internally frowned at being used but stayed silent, like a good dog.

"there's a bullhead waiting on the helipad. It'll take you to vacuo. I'm... sorry for giving you a mission like this, but it is necessary." Hans nodded, well aware that some things were necessary.

Without saying another word, the man left in silence. Ozpin frowned at the mans compliance.

'he's... too compliant. He didn't even ask anything about the target. Like an attack dog ready to bare its teeth at any time. Who are you, hans günsche?'

The girl stood in a store, watching her father hold the place up for some dust.

'this is so boring. Its getting repetitive. Especially with that bitch cinder forcing us to steal dust.' The ice cream coloured woman began to think about the man she met, then, pulled out her scroll.

'let's text him.' She scrolled through her various contacts and found the right one.

Hey handsome! How are you?

I'm fine. But I'm heading to vacuo to look for someone.

The girl raised an eyebrow at this, then typed again.

Who are you looking for? I've been to vacuo before, I might know him.

The white haired man looked skeptically at the message.

A guy called monsoon.

Neo's eyes widened, clearly shocked that he was going after a former atlas specialist.

A former atlas specialist?! Are you insane!? He'll kill you!

Hans was suprised to say the least. He never expected a woman he didn't know too well to be this concerned.

I appreciate your concern, but I'm confident in my ability to survive.

That was the truth. Whether hans could kill monsoon was irrelevant. What mattered most, was if he could survive. Hans was confident in his combat abilities, but after his fight with kommandant, he realised, he may not be the strongest.

In his old world, the only one who might be able to best him in one on one combat, was Alexander Anderson. Alucard is a walking army, however, hans could beat alucard in his base form, but in stage 0, well... that was a different story. Although, there was... him.

Hans may be able to beat each of his souls, but his original body blocked Andersons attack easily. So, he could likely stand against hans.

But in this world, he had already faced one opponent that forced him to try an idea that he was completely unsure as to whether it would work. He wouldn't be suprised if another opponent forced him to think on his feet.

And if a specialist is one of the highest military ranks in this world, it wouldn't suprise him if he was stronger than kommandant.

You better not die!

He smiled lightly at the demand before looking out the bullhead.

A storm was raging.

'that can't be a good sign.'

A wonderful forest of bright red trees, blood red trees.

In it, Stood team RWBY, JNPR and CRDL.

"today, you will all be gathering sap for professor peach. You are to stay in your teams and be aware that the sap does draw grimm. Off you go!" Team RWBY went off to gather sap, jaune went with CRDL leaving NPR to gather sap by themselves.

Pyrrha was clearly displeased by this action and so was Nora. But ren however, his mind was on other things.

'that knight... why would he be searching for knowledge about mental health problems? He seems incredibly loyal to Mr günsche... could it be that somethings wrong with Mr günsche?' He noticed Nora was eating some of the sap.

"Nora!" She giggled sheepishly as ren returned to his thoughts. 'I'll need to speak with team RWBY if I want to figure out more.'

He was currently walking through the rainy streets of vacuo, tall buildings towered over the streets and hans couldn't smell much in the rain.

Nor hear anything.

It was quiet... too quiet.

Hans turned around and pulled out his left mauser on reflex and found himself face to face with monsoon.

"how interesting. There's no way you heard me or saw me, yet you noticed me somehow." The captain looked to the man whose armor seemed to be segmented.

"instinct..." this caused the man to smirk.

"I can already tell, you're just like a wild animal. Relying only on instinct." Hans had enough of his rambling and fired but oddly, his chest split apart and the bullet missed.

Hans now realised why he was so dangerous.

The segmented armor wasn't his armor, it was his actual body!

The old soldier now realised why he was able to become a specialist.

His opponent took out some sai from his sides and twirled the dual weapons. His cocky smirk remained despite the attempt.

Hans took the initiative and rushed towards Monsoon, fully intent on Killing the former specialist.

But again, the attack was dodged by Monsoon who split apart and began to rotate separate parts of his body around his attacker.

Hans tried to keep track of each part but quickly became aware that wasn't possible when a sai flew right into the left side of his back, lightly piercing his first heart.

'... seems I can't take him lightly.' Several more pieces were launched towards hans, his legs flew into the werewolfs sternum, punch to the chin and a sai to the thigh.

The hunter dropped to his knees, injuries quickly healed but the sai in his thigh still debilitated him.

A Mist began to fill the air and obscure everything the natural werewolf could see. Hans reached down to his thigh, and tore out the sai without flinching. He once again stood to his full height as kommandant rose from his shadow, then, he stood back to back with his loyal soldier.

Soon enough, Monsoon appeared from the Mist and attempted to strike hans but he blocked both sai with his hands, though, block is a generous word considering the two weapons pierced through his hands.

The captain swiftly gripped onto the sai stuck into his hands and attempted a headbut, however, it again failed.

'I should've brought my gloves.' The two weapons of the storm were ripped from his hands as they glowed with a strange colour.

Pieces of monsoons body were launched at high speed towards kommandant who expertly blocked each one with his greatsword.

"let's see how you handle this!" The captain turned to the direction the wind of destructions voice came from.

The Mist had cleared from kommandants sword swinging and hans could see several vehicles and even a bullhead floating in the air.

The cars began to spin before flying right towards the duo. Hans moved behind kommandant who had sliced the first car in half down the middle, the two halves crashing behind the two.

The loyal knight sliced the next four cars with ease, but then came the bullhead.

Kommandant did not cut through this one with nearly as much ease as the cars, however, while he did cut through it...

There were consequences

The bullhead exploded as he cut through it, and blasted his arms to pieces.

The sword flew backwards from the explosion and impaled hans through the gut, vertically.

Hans grew noticeably pale and coughed up blood.

'what?! There... shouldn't be this much blood... from just an... impaling... is it... because kommandant... needs to reform?' He looked to his loyal knight who's arms were reforming but upon noticing his state, returned to his shadow.

Hans slowly pulled the sword out as monsoon walked through the wreckage of the vehicles he had thrown at them.

The sword clattered to the ground as hans wound healed, but noticeably slower than his previous wounds.

He reached down slowly and picked up the sword that was splattered with his own blood. He placed both hands on the blade and faced it to the ground.

"basser... blitz..." The sword coursed with lighting as he plunged it into the ground.

Electricity began to run through monsoon and hans, however, hans nerves were being repeatedly fried and healed.

But it wasn't anything new to him.

Monsoon though, his pain tolerance was nowhere near hans' level. The mans cybernetics began to malfunction and his body fell to the ground, stiff.

Hans slowly walked towards him, his chest covered in blood, hair soaked and the floor stained with a mix of blood and rain. Using what little strength he had left, he towered over monsoon and held the blade above his head.

"any... last... words?" The silver haired man chuckled which quickly turned to full blown laughter.

"the strong live and the weak die! It's just nature!" The captain drove the sword through his head, killing the former specialist.

Hans tried to stay standing with kommandants sword, but could not.

The man managed to get one word out as he collapsed to the ground.

Entstehen
