The Wizard's Obsession

It's a western fantasy novel. What i love about it is how the fighting is portrayed. Not much fantasy element have been introduced yet but the things we get so far are historically realistic and not some BS authors make based on pop culture. The author has really good knowledge about medieval warfare and lifestyle. I really appreciate how this novel has Gambesons (padded armor) instead of making every single poor guard wear full plate armor. The novel also has accurate representation of Victorian houses. I am expecting great things. You will love this if you are a HEMA and history enthusiast. Highly recommend it.

Not much chapters out yet, but the update has been consistent. The character development has been excellent so far. Starting out, the MC feels very unreal and inhumane and I was skeptical where the story was heading towards. But it all cleared up later on. The MC seems very real and very human like now. I am looking forward to how the personality of the MC shapes up. Each chapter also has a clear goal set for it. The chapters are a little small but I will turn a blind eye to it as there are no info dumps or filler chapters so far.

I personally enjoy reading this story, but the chapter updates doesnt follow a schedule and isnt frequent enough. I feel like the world background needs some more work but since theres not a lot of chapters yet, I'm hoping the author will give us more details about the other countries and explore the worls in more depth.

Writing quality- is quite good and better than most original novels on this site Stability of updates- gave it a 3 just because It feels like forever waiting for the next chapter compared to other original novels. However I don't mind waiting so long as the quality of the chapter doesn't decrease. Story development, character design, world background- im not really a great at judging, so long as the story doesnt have huge plot holes and is enjoyable I'd probably read it

I think I cried after the first chapter. Was not ready for the feels, really. While I feel that the writing is a little dry and too formal, the overall serious tone is a breath of fresh air compared to most wacky wish fulfillment stories here. I'd also prefer more internal dialogues of the MC to get more information on his feelings, but all in all, I recommend the story.

I really like the story, chapters 1-19 were really good. I got worried around chapter 20, as the MC seems to have this sudden shift to being evil(or at least seemed that way to me) but the author calmed my worries, so we'll see what happens from here on. Other than that the writing was good, the characters are really neat, and the story is rather unique.

Good at the beginning.started becoming bad with the chapters(ch 20 so far).chances of becoming the best are minimal(if the mc continues to be a naive idiot).but i will still give 5 star for now as an encouragement(the story is not beyond redemption and the mc might mature in next chapters).good luck.
