Wings of a Faerie

October 23rd, 8 days until Hollows Eve.

Ever admits she was wrong, she had assumed that her uninvited guest was a creature of night, possibly a Vampire, or Dark Fae. However, it seems that the new resident on Wallows Lane has the scent of a human, but not completely. Strange. Ever was not planning on running into him, but a chance meeting at the grocery store, of all places, changed that plan. As she pushed her cart past, not even glancing at him, she heard a mumbled question 'Is she even a human?'

Ever gave a casual glance back and found he was staring at her. He looked rather average, his background seemed to be of Asian decent—but most likely mixed since his eyes were the colour of Jade. Anyways, who knows, who cares? As long as he doesn't pry into her business, she won't have to act against him. Before turning away, she noticed that his hair was a bit long and tied in a short ponytail, but soon after she continued on her shopping spree not glancing back again. While she picked up a box of cheerios, she couldn't deny he definitely had a feeling mystery and oozed with charm. However, her mind soon drifted to more important things: how to get the wings of a faerie. She needed to act soon, the day was coming to an end. It was time to hunt a faerie.

Maybe, you may think Ever cruel for hunting such a peaceful creature, except not all faeries are particularly good. Furthermore, do not confuse them with Nymphs. Although Nymphs are sometimes considered as faeries, they are not. In fact Nymphs are divine spirits of nature, but many confuse them with spiritual faeries. Therefore, it all comes down to the question, what is a faerie? Once you can answer that, you must then consider the most important question: how many types of faeries are there? The answer is simple: a lot.

Celtic mythology is a good place to start when studying faeries, especially since they exist in abundance around Wallow Lane—Ever could never understand why though. Maybe the essence of magic, mana, draws them to this location. This doesn't mean that faeries from different cultural myths do not exist. They definitely do, and they like to appear on Wallow Lane often enough. It is just a confusing mess to sort out what faeries come from where. Thus, Ever will hunt a faerie with evil intentions.

There is one more important thing to note. Throughout history, many proclaim that faeries do not have wings. This is only an issue for mortal eyes, since normal humans and even other mythological creatures just cannot see them. You need a spell, or to have innate magic rather than drawing on the external mana of the world, in order to see the wings of a faerie. Their wings are what allow them to be so elusive and hard to find. Even if a human could see them in first place, they would not see their wings.

This year like every other, Ever has a target. After staking out the new born children section of the Hospital, Ever noticed an unsavoury presence in the ward and has been watching the creature carefully. It was a Faerie of Welsh decent, the Bendith Y Mamau. This name can refer to faeries as a whole, however, this nasty thing in particular has been snooping around the hospital ready to steal a human child and replace it with a changeling.

Upon arriving home, she put the food away and ate a bowl of stir fry rice for dinner. Around 8pm, Ever decided to suit up. She was on the hunt now.
