Chapter 14: Life Like a Movie

“Alright, nature boy. If you think you’re better suited for the outdoors, prove it.” Leena seems to think for a moment before continuing, a smile splitting her face, “Summon something for me.”
“Summon you something?” I clarify, poking a stick into the fire and watching as the sparks fly up and disappear among the stars.
“Yes, if you’re so in tune with nature, I’m sure it won’t be an issue.”
I have to admit, sarcasm and confidence look sexy on Leena, her eyes bright and just a little self-illuminating in the light of the flickering bonfire. I can almost forget about the ambush all those nights ago, about my brother, when looking into her eyes.
“Not sure if you know this about me,” I say, throwing her a sidelong grin, “But I’m not actually magic.”
Leena scoffs, getting up from the other side of the fire and coming around to the log I’m sitting on, shoving at my shoulder until I make room for her to sit next to me, almost dislodging me in the process.
