Fairies

March 3rd, 1904. I got a new toy fairy from my grandmother. Papa says that grandma is about to turn to dust at any moment, yet I don't think that's true. I told Papa that he's being rude. He responded with, "You should mind your own business." He slapped me right in the nose. It bled. Mama ran towards me, asking if I was okay. She walked me home and put a damp rag on my face. Papa walked in with a beer. "Darwin, that's your sixth one today," Mama said. Papa responded, "Another is no difference, hah.." He sounded odd, probably from the alcohol. I got really angry at that moment, it's inexplicable. I ran out the door and clambered up my rickety tree house.

I spotted someone inside, he said from in the darkness, "Hello, my name is Clent." I responded, "My name's Mary, I live up the road, Ridgewood farms to specify." "Oh! I saw your treehouse walking around so I decided to take a peep," Clent answered cheerily. I was glad it was dark so he couldn't see my tears. We climbed down the treehouse to the ground I wiped my tears quickly. We played in the forest until midnight hit.

March 10th, 1904. Papa found out my relations with the boy, Clent. Papa said, drowsily, "This boy could take your youth away!" "But, father, Clent is merely a fri-" I was cut off with a slap to the face. He stared at me coldly, and whispered sternly so mother couldn't hear, "I control what you do, child." I scampered out the house, nearly tripping on the wooden stairs. In the forest, I saw glimmering spots. They constantly whispered and conversed with one another. I asked, "W- Wait, what are you..?" One of the whispering lights responded, "Fairies, silly." I then woke up in my bed and ran to my parents' room. My mother was doing her make-up in her chair, she looked worried when she saw me. She said in a low voice, "Your father found you unconscious near your treehouse last night." I said, "I saw fairies!"Mama says that's nonsense.
