Wands

The next morning, Dorothy woke up early at 6:30. Did some morning routines of brushing her teeth, washing her face, and an early morning shower.

Washroom door knocks. "Dorothy, are you getting ready?" Almira called out.

"Just came out." Dorothy put on her robe.

Leaving the washroom.

"Then be prepared for Wand making. It's gonna be one hell of a day."

Dorothy walked by then grabbed her presented clothes. "Are wand making always such a problem?"

"More explosive." Almira smiled as she closed the door.

After an hour, and by 8:40, both of them are ready to leave for the farmhouses. They stretch out of their room wearing trades worker attire.

"Is this really a requirement?" Dorothy asked as they're walking down to the Farmhouses.

"When working in this kind of trade, safety comes first." Almira laughed.

They had entered the Farmhouses. Dorothy sees multiple Witches, already making Wands. Different kinds of Wands are currently being made while walking down to the last placed section of the Farmhouse.

Both Dorothy and Almira are looking at the Cottonwood, all had been cut and stacked up as if they're ready to put into a fireplace.

"So seeing so many kinds of Wands are currently being made, is every Wand different?" Dorothy asked as she picked up the Cottonwood block.

"Yupe!" Almira grabs some wood carving objects.

"I saw an interesting one back in the kitchen." Dorothy remembered Abigail Bones sword handle Wand, then she remembered Ollie's switchblade Wand.

"Mira!" Margaret Webster with Abigail Bones walked up to them. "Good morning!" She waved at them.

"Hello!" Abigail poses on top of the table, looking down at everyone in the section. "Her Majesty's Empire mightiest Witch had arrived here to assist this hillbilly with her Wand! Like a true superior!"

Almira doesn't seem to be impressed by Abigail. "Is this your new Apprentice?" She asked Margaret.

"Yupe. And unlike most of them, this one suffers a severe Inferior Complex."

"Sounds more like a Superior Complex to me." Almira commented.

"Trust me, this one has a severe case." Margaret said to Almira.

Dorothy offers her hand. "Can I see yours, Ms. Bones?" Dorothy asked.

"Not today!" Abigail looked away. "I don't have mine, since I must have lost it."

Both Almira and Margaret looked at each other.

"Just snap your finger. It would normally come back to you. Like this!" Almira tossed her Wand across then she snapped her finger for it to come back into her hand. "See!"

Abigail snaps her finger, but nothing happens.

Dorothy is confused. "Isn't your Wand like..." Dorothy noticed that Abigail's Wand was actually Margaret. "Oh!"

"Now I see why she's here. She's making her Wand too?" Almira asked Margaret.

Signed. "Of course. Since she claims that my Wand is hers, but I kept telling her that she can't make such a claim till she makes hers."

"So what kind of wood is her Wand?" Almira asked.

"Come here." Margaret requests them to follow her to their section across them to see the American Elm, but triple the pile of Dorothy's.

"Woah! So much!" Dorothy is surprised. "Is this her first attempt, like me?"

"Actually, this is her third attempt. The last two Wands were destroyed when she fought against a couple of Vigilantes from Boston. We nearly had a run in with an actual Magical Girl." Margaret said in a disappointed tone. "She tries to replicate my Wand, but could never match her spirit. And I nearly killed a Magical Girl, and put three Vigilantes in a hospital."

"I see." Almira leans back.

"Isn't this your first Apprentice, Mira?"

"Yupe!" She smiled but had a nervous shake. "So everything is new to me. So I can't wait to see how everything works, and unlike all the times I made my first Wand, it is so exciting."

"Then let's work on ours together, Dorothy!" Abigail shakes Dorothy up and down.

"Question, Abbie? Can I call you Abbie?"

"Feel free!" She smiled.

"What time period did you come from?"

Abigail looked around. "I said 1930's, but more specifically, 1935. During the Depression Era."

"1900, but it was quite weird for me to see all of this." Dorothy smiled as she doesn't mind on her time period.

Abbie is shocked. "And here I thought I was the oldest Apprentice here!"

"You're only 90 years old. Can't be that different from me."

"Actually, during that time period, Boston was hit hard." Abbie said. "But after seeing Marge here, I can be a Witch Knight."

"Fancy title. Is there such a thing?" Dorothy asked.

"Witches as Knights? Hardly." Marge laughs it off. "It's part of her delusion."

"Then let's make our Wands then. Can't wait to see what might happen." Dorothy is about to walk back to her section.

"And how about a Contest!" Abbie points at Dorothy. "Whoever makes a stronger Wand, and a powerful Witch, will join a Guild."

"A Guild?" Dorothy looked back at the Mentors.

"It's not that special, but it's a fancy word for being a group." Almira walked up to Dorothy. "But a Witch's Duel is a thing. So be prepared then."

"Then if there's a Witch's Duel, I want in!" Ollie speaks out in the middle of the farmhouse. "If you two are competing, then I want to prove that I'm the most powerful here."

Abbie runs up to Marge to hide behind her, while Dorothy is standing her ground.

She walked up to Ollie. "What is your problem, Ollie?" Dorothy asked her.

"Ollie? Only my Familiar, Johnny can call me that. For you old hag, call me Olivia Johnston!" She introduced herself. "And when I win this Duel, then I'll form the most Powerful Guild in order to challenge other Witches and bring down those preppy bitches of Magical Girls!"

"I'm not interested in you, Ms. Johnston, but I'll accept it. Can you wait till we make our Wands. So would you mind being patient when it comes to that?" Dorothy requested.

"Fine then." She walked away and back to her section. "But heath my words, you two. Your Mentors aren't gonna be there to protect you two. If you two aren't tough enough to join my Guild, then I'll have you two killed."

"May I ask you a question, Ms. Johnston?" Dorothy walks up to her, as Abbie is still scared of her. "Have you killed Witches before?"

Olivia smirked. "I have. And like other Salem Witches, I had bathed in their blood."

Abbie is shaken in fear from it.

"Abbie, you can back off if you wanted, but I ain't gonna lose. Unlike last night, this is gonna be a fair fight." Dorothy said to them both.

Abbie raised her hand. "Actually, this is my challenge, and I'll accept all challengers that dare to challenge me."

Olivia grinned at her that she continues to hide behind Marge. "I can't wait to bathe in your blood." She used her Wand to cut her hand, offering a handshake. "To make it official, draw your blood to shake hands."

All three of them cut their hands, but Allie had been forced to be held by both Marge and Almira when it came to the cut.

They shake hands and their blood glowed as a way to make it official.

"See you all on the battlefield." Olivia walked away to her section.

Both Marge and Almira healed up their Apprentices then made their way to their respective sections.

"Are you sure about this, Dorothy? Because like she said, I can't help you when it come to a Witch's Duel." Almira showed concern to Dorothy. "And that really escalated very quickly."

"It's alright, Mrs. Green. You said that there are Witches like them, right? Then I might as well learn how to defend myself by facing them in the future." Dorothy said to Almira.

"Alright then. But I still have to teach you some spells to defend yourself." Almira agreed.

They start making the Wands.

Almira picked up multiple Wand concepts with Marge.

Abbie is making multiple sword handle Wands, all in different variations, but Marge is yelling at her.

Almira and Dorothy are making the simple Wands with Dorothy tying up the Gemstones on a string.

"You think the Gems on a string might look too silly?" Dorothy asked Almira.

"It's your style." Almira encourages her.

Dorothy points.

Abbie takes a quick look as she sees Dorothy's Wand, while she holds hers. From a broadsword, rapier, and katana style of handles.

Olivia is making more of her Switchblade Wand, like making multiple copies, but with different reasons. One is a comb, while the other is a knife. She gave the comb over towards Johnny.

Waving her Wand, "I like the design, but the feeling isn't flowing with me." Dorothy said to Almira.

"That isn't new to me, Dorothy." Almira grabs the Wand then looks at it, observing it. "Let's give it a try." Almira places it far then pulls Dorothy right back. "Alright, give it a snap."

Snapping her fingers, but nothing happening.

Johnny walked up to Dorothy and Almira. "Hey, yo. I want to extend an olive branch towards you."

"You're Ollie's Familiar, Johnny, right?" Dorothy asked.

"Correct." Johnny answered.

"What do you want, Johnny?" Almira said while she snap to get her Wand from underneath the working table.

"I can understand why you're hostile towards me, but I don't have any ill will intention. And you see, since I'm a cat, I don't normally show care and all, but when a cat does show sign of caring."

Almira pulls out her Wand and aims at him.

"Right!" Johnny coughs. "You see, I want to apologise to my Master behavior since she's going through a rough time and expressing her hate towards you, because of her lost of her Mentor..."

"Johnny!" Olivia shouted.

"And seeing you being happy go-lucky, kind of remind her as a Magical Girl that..."

"Johnny!!" Olivia shouts again.

"My apologies." Johnny bows. "And please do take it too hard at the Witch's Dual, she's still a reborn Witch after all." Johnny return to Olivia station.

"I guess that isn't the right design then. Let's look over the other designs." Almira pulls out the book while acting like she didn't heard what Johnny said but Dorothy kept her eyes at her station before being presented by the book.

Multiple different kinds;

-Tiara

-Handles, either sword or guns

-Traditional sticks

-Cell phone casing

-Earrings

-Religion iconology

-Bracelets

-Notepads

-Pens/Pencils

-Glasses

-Necklaces

"So many design ideas" Dorothy is surprised. She looked over to see more and more design ideas. "I'm quite surprised that there's a booklet of different Wands."

"Those are actually just recorded Wands that Witches wanted to help others. But the religion iconology is a unique one. Maybe you should give it a try?"

Dorothy seemed to be uncomfortable. "I don't want to spit on God or other kinds of Religion Gods by using their Holy images for Wickedness."

"Alright then." Almira is looking over.

Dorothy is looking back at Abbie's tree blocks to see that it's a dead tree like hers. "Are all Wands made out of dead trees?"

"Yupe." Almira answered.

"Hmm...!" Dorothy was surprised as she picked up another wood block. "Alright then." Dorothy starts wood carving.

"Have you done some wood work before?" Almira asks as she's watching Dorothy being comfortable on wood work.

"Some bits, but never this much though. I would normally just carry the blocks back into the house or storage. But never know how much work papa tends to do till I'm doing this." Dorothy is looking over the booklet again. "Maybe I'll try a basket?" Looking at the basket, she remembered her fight with Becky who resembled a little red riding hood. "Perhaps not. Plus I remember I put Toto in one already." She flipped the chapter.

Almira is looking at the previous chapter. "Ah, I see." She looked at Dorothy as she's tapping the Wand. "I have a question, but is that challenge to Johnston a way to face Wolfe?"

Dorothy stood with fear on her back. "Yes..." She hesitated. "If I need to face a Magical Girl, I have to face a Witch in order to surpass that fear."

Olivia overheard what she said. Angrily snarled at the idea. "I'm a stepping stone?!" She thinks to herself. "For a Magical Girl?! I'll make her fear me instead!" She continues on making her spared Wands.

Abbie is looking over the booklet, being frustrated.

Marge sign. "How about a different design? You can't always copy me." She said to Abbie as she swung the handle like a sword.

"But I wanted to be a knight. Like how you were back in the Empire days." Abbie said to Marge.

"Being part of the Victorian Empire wasn't all that great. Only the Fashion, but we had rough patches here and there, love." Marge said to Abbie, trying to cheer her up. "This handle of mine is meant to be a gift from the Queen herself. You gotta find what makes yours, yours."

"But I wanted to be someone special. Not some grave digger who only buried the sick and the dead." Abbie memories came by of herself and her father, burying dead bodies in one pile. "I'm not..." Abbie grinds her teeth out of frustration. "I'll be right back." Abbie leave the farmhouse.

Almira overheard her. "I'll be right back. Marge! Can you look after Dorothy?"

"Sure, Mira." Marge walks to Dorothy's station while Almira follows Abbie.

Dorothy sees Marge walking up to her. "What's wrong with Abbie?" She asked.

"Pretty much memories of her old life came back to her."
