Detective Sara- Case: Jeshan's Interests

Over the course of the next couple of weeks, nothing too interesting happened. Jeshan kept my admirers away just by being next to me, and I did a variety of things to repay him. I would buy him several different drinks and snacks to try and see what he liked, and I would also always act elegant around him. I really hate having to act elegant for everyone all the time, but when I'm around him I want to be as elegant as a girl can be.

However, no matter what I do, I can't seem to get much of a reaction, if any at all out of Jeshan. He takes what I give him without complaining, and we just sit on a bench and talk while we drink and/or eat the snacks I bought for us at lunch time. We talk about a variety of things, but never anything personal. We just haven't gotten to that level of friendship yet I suppose. Never getting a reaction out of him is quite frustrating though. Whenever I ask him if he likes what I get him to eat or drink, he's always responded with, "It's good, thank you." Does he just not dislike any food or drink? I suppose that's a piece of information, but I want to see what he looks like when he's really enjoying food and drinks, and I want to see what he looks like when he's absolutely disgusted as well.

I just want to know more about him, and he's not making that desire easier by never actually asking me to do anything for him for being my personal bodyguard. I expected that he'd want money, maybe for me to pretend to be his girlfriend, and at the back of my mind I thought he might even want something not so innocent. At this point I wouldn't even care if he'd ask me something like that, at least I'd have more of an idea of what kind of person he is, yet he's given me nothing.

However, today I have a plan. I've already messaged my mother and father about my plans after school, and they were completely fine with it after hearing that I'd have a powerful protector. I sigh with relief when I don't see Edward waiting to pick me up, looking out the window by the entrance to check. Jeshan's sharp eyes notice that fact as well. "How come that butler isn't here to get you?"

"So you noticed. I'll be repaying you in a different way today, if it's alright with you." I give him a playful smile.

"And what would that be?" He tilts his head, keeping the blank expression he always wears. "We're going to be having a day packed with fun! And we'll be starting at..." It only takes us a few minutes to arrive at our first destination on foot. Our first destination is in a plaza in the center of town, and thankfully the school isn't too far from it. "The arcade!" I smile, a bit impressed with my brilliant mind. All boys play video games, so this is sure to get some kind of reaction out of Jeshan.

So, we go inside, I pay just the right amount of money with the credit card my mother and father gave me, and we receive a game card that'll let us play every single game at least once. Yet, as we go through the arcade and play through literally every single game they have to offer, Jeshan doesn't react at all. He doesn't even actually play anything, he just watches me play with that same blank expression he wears everyday. "Alright, maybe he just doesn't like video games all that much..." I say to myself while we walk through the plaza.

"But no matter, there's absolutely no way this next plan could fail!" The reason I think this is because the next place I'm taking him is an internet café. There's no way I won't find out what his interests are once I've got him sitting in front of a computer and I watch what he does. So, we go inside the café, I pay for two hours for a two person cubicle, and then we're given a keycard to access that cubicle. I hum happily as I skip to the cubicle, Jeshan following behind me, and we reach the black themed cubicle in the back of the café in just a few short minutes.

This café is rather large, and even has a 24 hour option, with free drinks and vending machines that serve hot food. If you get the 24 hour option, they even have a bathroom for you to bathe in. Surprisingly, the 24 hour option is only 50 dollars, but it's not as if the living conditions are any type of luxury hotel. I suppose it just goes to show what people are willing to do in order to help those who are homeless.

As soon as we're inside the cubicle, I sit down on the computer chair and start up the computer, just barely able to stop myself from giggling at the excitement of learning Jeshan's interests. Once the computer has started up and I've logged in with the ID on the cubicle key I was given, I turn in the chair to look at Jeshan. "Alright Jeshan, have-" I pause as I see what Jeshan's doing. He has taken off his shoes, laid out the sleeping mat, and grabbed a pillow and a blanket all while I wasn't looking.

As of right now, he's in the process of laying down, and he turns his back to me. "Wake me up when you're done..." He yawns and falls asleep instantly. I puff out my cheeks and huff, deciding to use the computer for the next two hours so the money I spent doesn't go to waste. Once our two hours comes to an end, I wake Jeshan, help him put up the bedding he used, and we vacate the premises.

I'm feeling a bit defeated right now, but I have one last plan that has to work. "There's one last stop and then I'll let you go, alright?" I smile back at him and he nods. I lead him into a mall and walk to the mall's food court. Their food is just to die for, which is why I'm more than happy to spend my money here, but my true plan lies in what Jeshan is going to be eating. I have a full proof plan that can't possibly fail! I turn to Jeshan and give him my brightest smile as I ask him, "What would you like to eat?"

Jeshan responds with, "I'll have whatever you're having." Hearing those words shatters something inside of me, and I cry on the inside, feeling total defeat. So, I stand in line to get a simple order of a burger and fries for the two of us along with some tea, and then I return to the table, wearing a smile, but a solemn one as I wait for our order number to be called. "Is everything alright?" Jeshan asks.

I look up at him and tilt my head. "What?"

"You just look upset is all. I wanted to know if anything was wrong." He looks into my eyes as he speaks.

I give him one of my signature fake smiles. "No, nothing's wrong, I-" I pause as I realize what I'm saying. If I want to make him more comfortable around me, acting like I do around everyone else isn't going to help with that. My smile fades and I gaze back into his beautiful grey eyes. "I haven't been completely honest with you... I said this day was to repay you back for the last couple of weeks altogether, and that was partially true, but this day was also partially for myself..." I avert my gaze. "I thought I could learn more about your hobbies and such if I spent a whole day of fun with you..." I look down, smiling sadly. "But I just made a bunch of assumptions and nothing turned out right... I'm sorry if your usual day was ruined because of me..."

I don't see Jeshan's expression, but his voice doesn't change as he responds. "I'm sorry. I thought this was a day for you and you wanted me to protect you throughout the day as well. I also selfishly made my own assumptions."

I look up at him again. "Huh..?"

He stands up and bows his head. "I'm the one who should be apologizing for ruining your payment with my assumptions, so, I'm sorry."

My face heats up as I notice several people staring at us and I quickly hold up my hands. "I-It's fine it's fine!" I yell without thinking, then quickly switch to whisper yelling. "P-Please sit down..! People are going to get the wrong idea..!"

Our order number is called suddenly and I start to stand, but Jeshan holds up his hand. "Don't worry, I'll go get it. You're day's been taxing enough." He then walks off to get our food.

I sigh heavily, thinking to myself, "Can't you see I'm trying to lighten the taxing load everyday has on you Jeshan..?" It takes less than a minute for Jeshan to return with our food, and it's a meal filled with awkward silence, neither of us knowing what to say to one another after that.
