REFLECTION of WARD COURIER
May, 2012
SOUTH WALES, NY
A couple days after the events that seemed to end this cycle, I had gotten in a quick evening conference with Rick Reynard at an Orchard Park coffee house and found him, too, in a state of shock, though he hid it better than most people would. I remember asking if his folk had any traditions about the Whistlers or something the like thereof, and the way he put off the answer made me think they had. ("What do you call them?" I had asked as a follow-up, and he had said, scowling, "Trouble.")
I had also had to patch up a few leaks in my professional ship. There are basic realities to anyone's job. Don't forget, I had dropped out of the schedule for most of three days during a tense week at the end of the year, and without a publicly credible explanation.
