Is this wolf his familiar? Wizards can form a contract with an animal or magical creature and have them become their magical familiar. Cats, owls, even lizards. Well, maybe not a lizard... But basically familiars help with the practice of our magic, even the advancement of it, and they become our eternal partners.
"Good morning Landon." Lisa and Edward say in complete unison. He looks at them with complete annoyance, then turns toward me. "Can you move? You're in front of my seat." I look behind me, and I sure am. So I step aside and he immediately takes a seat. "Hey Landon, this is Freya. She'll be in our class from now on." Hearing Lisa say these words makes me very aware that they don't know that I'm on trial here. Maybe that's a good thing. Hopefully I won't be treated differently.
"Freya, good to meet you," he says in a quiet but smooth tone. Immediately, he turns away and gazes out the windows. Seeing that he has no interest actually hurts my feelings a little. "Don't worry," Lisa says. "He's always like that. But there is no seating arrangement so, sit where you like. Bu,t everyone knows that this seat belongs to him, so no one ever sits there." I look down at the wolf staring at me. He gives me a half smile as he lays down next to Landon on the floor.
"If there is anything you don't get, just come and ask me." Edward says, showing a gentler face now. Lisa grabs my hands and brings them up between our chests. "And if you ever don't feel like asking Edward any questions, come to me. I'll help you through anything you have trouble with." Edward chuckles to himself, but tries to pass it off as a cough. "What babe? You don't think I can do it? I'm very helpful and very trustworthy." Lisa whips her head over her shoulder. Which makes Edward back away and put his arms up in defeat.
Just then the bell rings. Lisa gives Edward a hug and kiss, then leaves the classroom. "Wait, what about class?" I ask Edward directly. He changes footing and looks in the direction of the door. "Sadly she is in the other class room. But I still get to see her every day and that's worth it." Edward turns away for a second as his face grows a bit red. He must really like her to be blushing this bad. Edward turns back, with his cold smooth smile on.
"Well work hard." Edward says as he walks away to take his seat. I turn to look around for a seat when Landon speaks up.
"Hey Freya, take my seat, I'll sit in the one in front of you." His proposal takes me by surprise. I thought that this was his seat and no one else could sit here? I gladly nod and we changed seats. Just as I sit down, the intense Professor Henderson I just met, only just moments before, walks through the door. He sets his attendance book down on his front desk then takes his place at the front of the room.
"Let's begin the lesson. Ah, but class - let me inform you that we have a new student with us today." Everyone starts to look around the room till they all find me looking awkward and nervous. "Come on, stand up and introduce yourself." I stand slowly, feeling slightly annoyed at the fact I am just sitting down, and turn back around to the class. With everyone's eyes on me, I can't help but begin to sweat. This is where my first impression really counts.
"Hi everyone. My name is Freya Bell. I can't wait to work with you all, and get to know one another." I take a glance back at the Professor to see if that's enough. With his hidden nod, I take my seat once again. "We will also be having a guest student, if you will, joining us today. He came from a laboratory in the next town over to study white magic with us. As he is quite talented in offensive magic, so he'll be teaching some classes on that as well. More or less, he is a regular student as you are. Think of him as someone like a prefect. Come in boy." We all turn to look at the door as it slides open. My eyes go wide with astonishment and perhaps excitement.
"Victor?" I blurted out. But to my disbelief, all he does is give me a light-hearted greeting and a small wave. I cannot believe he's here! My excitement to see him again makes my heart race. But then I glance at the Professor, and I can tell he's a bit mad that I blurted it out. And to my shock, I didn't even realize that I stood up. I calmly take my seat, and slightly shield my eyes away from everyone so as to not see their laughing faces.
Professor Henderson looks at Victor. "Do you two know each other?" Victor walks further into the room and stands next to the Professor. "Yes, I helped her out of some trouble in town." I can see his cheeks getting a tad pink when he thinks of that. Or am I just imagining that? "Okay well you two can have your teary-eyed reunion later. Introduce yourself." Professor Henderson takes a step back to give Victor some room.
"Hi everyone I'm Victor King. I'm a few years older than you, but I'll be studying with you for the next two weeks. I'll also be teaching you some magic as well, so please don't hesitate to ask." He takes a final bow then faces the Professor. I'm sure he winked at me before he turned around.
"Thank you, take the empty seat next to Freya. Now class, I hope you all get along with him." Victor quickly takes his seat next to me. As the Professor turns away, Victor leans over to me and whispers. "We meet again, Freya." He winks at me, and this time it's very clear. My face grows hot.
"Yeah, I'm glad we can finally see each other again. I should have asked for a way to contact you." I freeze after realizing how that sounded. What am I saying? He's probably gonna think I'm weird, asking for something like that after only meeting with him twice.
"Well, that makes me glad as well. I was looking forward to seeing you again too." He shoots me his prize winning smile and I can't help but blush. I feel so embarrassed and at a loss for what to do next, that I find myself looking down. I can barely look him in the eyes. What am I going to do?
"Well, I had a feeling I'd see you again. After all, you did have this uniform on." He says in a whisper still.
"Well you could've told me!" I say, my voice slightly above a whisper. "But isn't it better to keep things like this on the down low?" He slightly winks again at me with a playful tone.
"Not at all! If I'd known, I wouldn't have jumped up and shouted like that! That was really embarrassing.." I trail off and look at the floor.
"Haha my bad," he says as he runs his hand through the back of his hair, showing off his tattoo more. Not gonna lie, he's looking more and more attractive every time I take a look at him. "You're enjoying this aren't you?" I make a lively face at his, trying to scowl all at the same time.
"More like a lot. But I didn't think we'd be in the same class together. That definitely surprised me for sure." It really must've been a coincidence. But, then again, Amelia did say last night 'But if it's fated, you'll see him again for sure.' I wonder if what she said could be true.
"Over there, quiet down." Professor Henderson shouts directly at the two of us. I can't help but shrink down into my seat. I hate being yelled at, let alone on my first day of class. I look over at Victor and he is chuckling without even a hint of guilt. I can't help but laugh along with him. For some reason, it's really fun to be around him. What is this feeling in my chest I get when I'm around him?
