Chapter 6: Random Power Generation

'There's no way this is possible, you're telling me that my ability is conscious? I can understand how you kind of have a mind of your own since you are an A.I, but how can my ability be the same?'

[I cannot answer your inquiry Sir due to insufficient information.]

'Fine, fine whatever. Since you said that it has a mind of its own, have you communicated with it somehow? And if so, what did it say?'

[Your ability is indeed conscious, but not yet sapient. It is currently only capable of communication through the exchange of emotions and primitive mental signals.]

[According to your ability, instead of generating a different number of abilities randomly that could potentially destroy you if you generate more than 5 and accept them, it can consciously use some effort along with my assistance on regulating a strange mechanism in your body that is responsible for the generation, to roll 10 random abilities every month for you, while you'd have to choose 5 from them.]

'Hmmm… that sounds good. We can just do it now then if possible. Although I haven't looked at the description of my talent and perks, I pretty much understand them from their names. I didn't even expect to have another perk too.'

'Okay Holmes, I'm totally ok with that. When is the roll?'

[We can begin at any time Sir.]

'Then you can start now.'

[Abilities generating…]

[Please choose 5 of the 10 listed abilities Sir.]

[1. Super Regeneration]

[2. Peak Conditioning]

[3. Super Learning]

[4. Power Stealing]

[5. Sharpshooting]

[6. Item-Duplication]

[7. Super Mentality]

[8. Size Shifting]

[9. Super Intelligence]

[10. Super Speed]

Roman was now truly stunned. Hearing it is one thing, but seeing is believing. Looking at all of these powers, he didn't know how to feel. Some of these are overpowered based on what he knows. Others, he can't tell what they do right away, and some are every man's dream come true.

It was almost impossible to choose.

'Holmes, can you give me a description for Sharpshooting, and Peak Conditioning? I can't tell what those do right off the bat.'

{Sharpshooting: Grants you inhuman marksmanship, allowing you to hit your target every time, with almost any object.}

{Peak Conditioning: Allows you to remain in whatever your current peak condition is almost endlessly so long as you have enough energy.}

'Yeah no, peak conditioning is already out due to my so-called peak condition being so weak right now that it's useless. If it brought me to a peak condition, in terms of human limits, then maybe that would've been worth it. As for sharpshooting, I'll hold off on it in order to decide between the rest.'

'Holmes, what's the difference between Super Mentality and Super Intelligence?'

[Super Intelligence will allow your intelligence to rise beyond what's normally possible, granting you an incredibly huge amount of processing power, enough to even uncover some of the secrets contained within reality itself in some special circumstances, while Super Mentality will allow you to retain all of the information you can process.]

[If these abilities were picked together, their synergy would be terrifying paired with your talent of Fast-Learner. This also doesn't include if you pick Super Learning, making it impossible for me to currently calculate your learning speed when it comes to any subject.

[This also doesn't include your natural talent that I can not discern currently.]

Roman sucked in a cold breath. It's a frightening thought to know that his Godly Blessing, which is an A.I, is not even able to calculate his learning ability with this combination. Forget all those physical abilities, this was more incredible than he imagined.

This whole time, he was thinking of all these overpowered abilities he can randomly receive, when he can possibly have a synergy skill in the form of multiple abilities working together too.

What would've happened if he'd gotten Doomsday level abilities like Evolutionary Adaptation and maybe even an ability to resurrect?

*Hissssss*

Roman was practically wheezing at that thought. He'd be practically immortal.

[Please calm down Sir, although such a combination of abilities would indeed be nice, there are a multitude of strange abilities out there that could possibly counter them. Infinite abilities, also equate, infinite counters.]

After hearing Holmes' words, he finally calmed down enough to carefully think of the other 2 abilities he'll pick. He already decided on those 3 synergized abilities.

[Wise choice Sir. These abilities can also improve my processing power by a huge margin. You can also consider it as a synergy skill perfect for me to assist you to a greater degree than before. I can also assist you in many different forms of targeted learning to speed up such processes.]

Yup, he's practically drooling now.

'Ok, you have to focus Roman. You need 2 more abilities. I know how Power Stealing works, but is it even worth it? I only have a limit of 5 abilities right? Holmes, can you explain to me in any way how Power Stealing would even be useful? Or should I just ignore it?'

[Should you choose Power Stealing Sir, if you manage to find a power you like and actually steal it, it's possible for it to take up a permanent slot out of your maximum of 5 abilities, leaving you with only 4 to pick for the next roll until your body can handle more.]

Roman contemplated on this for a bit. So if he steals an ability, he will end up switching it out for Power Stealing, and it will stay permanent instead of randomizing again in a month like the other abilities.

It was basically a gamble. He doesn't even know how long he's going to stay in this room. How would he know if he'll ever meet another ability user in a month? Even though something keeps telling him to prepare, he doesn't know what he's preparing for. Why does he seem to be in a rush and so anxious?

Well, the answer to his thoughts decided to speak out at the moment.

"Greetings to you Fixers." an otherworldly voice suddenly echoed throughout his room.

Roman froze, absolutely confused about what was happening.

"I am one of the many Envoys of reality, tasked with guiding all of you chosen Fixers into your duties. There are currently 1,024 of you Fixers, while more will be chosen should any more die than last time." the otherworldly voice spoke in a monotone fashion.

However, it's words set off an atomic bomb that scrambled Roman's thoughts.

'Are you telling me I was right? The reason the room was a mess when I entered was because it was someone else's before?

Then if we go off the assumption that no one would want their room to be so dirty if they somehow realize there's some form of control over this place, doesn't that mean that whoever was here died quickly before he could learn anything about this place?'

If before Roman was confused, now he was extremely fearful. He just got a chance back at living a life, with some cool abilities to boot, and he might just lose that too because of whatever this Fixer gig is.

"Your role as Fixers will send you out into the different dimensions of reality as we know it, in order to mend the cracks that those 'Outside' would use to enter. Some of you may end up working alone, or be forced to work together."

Well, that somewhat answers the job.

"However, some of you are obviously not informed or prepared about what is happening. As such, everyone will have a week to compose themselves in their Dimensional Chambers before being sent off to take a type test to examine your qualification."

After the voice finished its words, a book suddenly appeared out of thin air, landing right into Roman's lap.

"We Envoys have provided you with a guide containing all the information you have access to about your roles, and how to properly carry them out. Please try to be as informed as possible before the time is up in order to complete your tasks with utmost efficiency."

"See you in a week!"
