Chapter Thirty-One

Minerva has been confined to the hospital here in my town. We won the war again by the genius idea of Minerva. But there's something not good here. Seferis is dead but he suddenly disappears. No one sees who took him. But it was something fast. And we have no idea how to help Minerva.

The rescue plan that Minerva said had been successful. There are no demons there anymore. The compound is excessively clear except to the children that are in the cell and the female human's that have been their sex slaves. Some teenage males had been molested. I guess that they will be the next food.

'Love, are you okay?' I asked her. She's been so frantic and furious after Minerva had collapsed. She's not calming down walking back and forth in my room here in New Moon packhouse.

'No!' she exclaimed. 'Minerva is comatose and I don't have any idea what kind of potion that has been injected into her. It was black magic. We don't use black magic because it is extremely dangerous.'

'Calm down, okay? If you keep panicking there—'

'How can I not panic!?' she shouts turning to me at the same time. Her eyes are burning or something. 'Someone is still alive. I thought I had killed her eight years ago. I doubt that Seferis is dead.' I grabbed her arms pulling her to me.

'I know that you are mad… but calm down for a sec.' I stroke her hair. She breathes and she did calm down.

'The Black Witch, Helena, the one who cursed me is still alive. The night of the war, it was still fresh in my mind. She killed my mother in front of me. I burst and I killed her. Keynes helped me by darting his dagger to her heart.'

That was tragic. How can a ghost still live in this world? She's dead but now she is with Seferis and still alive. She even poisoned Minerva and she's in a deep coma.

'I'm sorry. We have to be ready no matter what happened. We break the curse already. You are free and no one is going to hurt you again. I am here and I am going to protect you no matter what happens.' That's what Tobias is telling Selene too.

'I know, love. I just get paranoid about her being alive.'

'Shhh…' I stroke my fingers on her hair. 'We are going to fight and protect our people from them. The Gods had sent us back to protect the mortals and immortals from evil.'

She smiled bitterly and hugged me. I hugged her back smelling her scent. I kissed her cheek and I feel her mark burning on my neck. A sudden lust rushed upon me.

'I love you…' I said. She gasped when I carried her to my arms like a bride. I gently put her on the bed.

'Love? Seriously?' she rolls her eyes.

'Yeah, it can lose stress you know.' I smirked. 'Just one round and we are going to sleep.'

'But I'm hungry. I had burned my calories this day. I need energy.'

'Just one round and we are going to eat plenty as you like.' I kissed her lips passionately and she did too. I stripped the white clothing that she is wearing until our skin touches.

'We will stay here one night and go back to the palace. We have lots of things to do.'

'Yes, your majesty.' I grin.

We had checked the kids in the New Moon town. Also, we had secured the place where everyone will be safe from the war. The training will be tight for teens and soldiers. We are not going to put the teens in the war. We are just preparing them if ever there's an attack so they can defend their selves.

We had been distributed the armors that hunters used to use on us. Minerva had long punished those hunters so they are not killing us anymore. The guns, swords, daggers, and arrows had been boiled into the wolf's bane. We give them a proper outfit and gloves for them not to get burn by the wolf's bane.

Minerva has been sleeping for 24 hours now in the hospital and Yves is always there waiting for her to wake up. We need Minerva now. She's the only one who can help us in this war. She has this gift that the Goddess gave to her and we need it to protect our people and specie.

'King Nate!' someone knocks on the door. I put on my pajamas and run to the door. Terence bows at me.

'Yes, Terence?' he sighed.

'Well, you and the Queen need to go back to the palace now. Keynes orders me.'

I looked at the clock. It was just four in the morning for Pete's sake!

'Why?'

'He said that it is urgent.'

'Okay. Get the truck ready.' He nods and I close the door.

'Love, get up.' I climb to bed and nose on her face.

'Hmm…'

'We need to go back to the palace ASAP. Keynes needs us. It was urgent.'

'Okay… please bring food with us.'

'Yeah…' seriously? She was still thinking about food? I know she's a wild eater but can she forget about it? Oh! I know! We didn't eat at in right time that's why she's hungry. Stupid me!

I give orders while I am here in the hospital waiting for my mate to wake up. I feel miserable now. I don't want to lose her. I just found her and God knows I have been waiting for her. But I don't know what's wrong why she was so cold to me and like she despite me. Am I not that handsome? Am I not that attractive? Am I too much or too little?

I tried to talk to her and be close to her but she keeps pushing me away. I want her to wake up now and talk to her and make things good so that we can love each other. Every time that she looked at me she seemed heartbroken. By why? I am her mate. Why is she heartbroken? I just don't understand and it was so irrational.

'Minerva… wake up please.' I said nuzzling my nose on her hand that I was holding.

Did I do something that makes her despite me? Am I something hateful, that's why she ignores me and didn't even see me as her mate? There might be something wrong with why she's like this.

'It's been two days huh.' Terence said who just enter the room.

'Yeah… the doctors don't know what's wrong with her. They said that we have to wait until she woke up. But when? I am losing patience here.'

'Give her time.' I put down her hand and stood facing Terence.

'Any report?'

'Nothing. The Queen has a message for you.'

'Tell me.'

'Minerva is in a long sleep. She needs time and she will wake herself. The potion that the Black Witch strikes to her is not that deadly. She thought that it might kill Minerva but it didn't. She is simply sleeping while the poison is healing around her body.'

'Really? How many days should I wait?' I was excited and feel lighter. She is not dying.

'Yves, I just said that she needs time and she will wake herself. No one really can tell when she wanted to wake up.'

'Damn it!'

'I know. Okay, since it's my day off and there's no problem around the town, I have to go. My mate is waiting for me.'

'Good to know that you don't have a problem with your mate.' I hold my mate's hand. It was warm and soft. I wanted to hold it every time.

'Dina had told me something about Minerva.' Terence speaks again. I snapped my eyes on him. 'She said that Minerva never wished for a mate since three years ago.'

That sounds so lonely and heartbreaking. Why did she stop wishing for a mate? Why? It was odd for someone to stop wishing for a mate.

'She didn't tell me details. She just said that it was after an incident happens on Minerva's journey to visit every pack every year. Then she told me that she just stop wishing for a mate in a snap.'

He left me hanging. Then he left. Why did Minevera stop wishing for a mate?
