29 A little acceptance.

Uncle Fallon stares with amusement plastered on his face and I release a breath of relief because Lanis can't run again. I am still holding unto him and I don't plan on letting go. 

Fallon closes the door and moves closer to us "This is the mate?" he sniffs and I know he is trying to register Lanis's scent. The expression on his face changes from a smile to a deep frown. I watch as his eyes darken "You brought a vampire to our sanctuary?" 

"He is not just any vampire." the courage that I knew I'd have with him next to me, surfaces "He is mine." I defend. 

A laugh escapes from his lips "I don't even need to do any convincing. This will surely get everyone on my side." 

He opens the door to the room and walks in "I can't go in there." Lanis pleads. 

"It's fine. I will handle this," I assure him but the look on his face tells me that he is not so sure. I wouldn't let anyone touch him, no matter what happens in there.
