It did not take long for Alpha Billnas to put the security details in place. After they put together the security details. Xendy and Billnas walked out of the room together.
A few steps from the hotel, Xendy's gut feeling felt off. Same scenario and feelings, like the time he found his mother dying after Trajan had stubbed her to death. His gut told him something was wrong.
He stopped and walked back to the room and saw his bird sitting still. He walked outside and saw the two security guards standing at the door, paused for a moment, and told himself off.
“Is everything okay?” He heard Billnas's voice from behind his back.
“Yes. Let's hurry. I need to be back as soon as possible. I don't think I can stay away from my mate for too long.” Alpha Billnas nodded, and they walked out.
He felt even worse with each step he took on his way to Alpha Billnas Pack's house. And he hated himself for allowing this. Maybe he should have brought her along.
Back in his room. Iyya waited uncomfortably for Xendy after he went out with Alpha Billnas. She was at the table listening to their conversation earlier.
She didn't understand most of what they discussed, but she felt relieved to see Xendy in a better mood than he was in before.
She felt nervous seeing him leave, and she was more of a nervous wreck waiting for him.
Her mind was running all around, thinking the worst. She was all ready to abandon him after he helped her get her body back.
But the same could not be said if the tables were turned back to her. What if he abandoned her?
That question scared the hell out of her.
Deep down Iyya knew she was breaking her promise of not trusting anyone and the worst part of it all was she was sure now.
She was sure that she had already gotten attached to him and she hated herself for that.
She sighed and forced herself to keep calm and keep waiting.
After a few minutes of waiting, Iyya noticed the signs. It was that time of the month again. The time she has been waiting for. The time of her menstruation period.
She cursed in frustration. Everything was going out of plan now. Why was it early? She wondered. She had not prepared for it to come this early. She expected it in two days.
It was the time that had given her hope, but it scared her now. Not because she would go through a tremendous amount of pain whenever it happened, but because Xendy is not here.
She won't get to plead with him as she had planned since walking out of Serengeti to help her get her body back.
Even with the pain and everything happening now. This was a merry occasion for her. It's the only time of the month she regains her human body only for a few minutes while the blood flows.
And she turns back into the Peacock as soon as the flow decreases.
She wished Xendy made it back at that moment for her to speak to him, but in her mind, she knew it was not happening.
Whenever the time comes around for her, her memory travels back to the day.
On the day of her transformation, the day she went running to Heina to tell her, she had finally become a woman.
Just like her late mother. Heina had fitted in well, and Heina had always taught her to celebrate her body changes.
Heina celebrated and taught her everything about her body. Iyya was excited to tell her about her menstruation periods.
As she approached Heina with a thrilled face and shared the news. Heina murmured two words that she couldn't forget and her bones broke and vanished.
And in the following second, fur covered her body with what looked like feathers and a tail. Fur hid her face, morphing into that of a peacock while her hands were behind the feathers.
Her legs were the last to turn and there she stood as a bird.
Heina transported her to ZALA and left her under the care of the watchman, who always so to her struggles every day for the last five years.
She wanted to get down from the table.
She knew the pool of blood that was going to be on it any second now. She felt disappointed and hurt that her plan would not happen the way she intended it to go.
She was going to miss her chance of talking face to face with Xendy. She had planned to stick with him until this time of the month and beg for his help to take her back to Zanzibar.
It is all she looked forward to for all the time she stayed beside him. And she would not have to burden him by staying with him any longer. She would meet her stepmom. And plead with her to forgive her.
Or perhaps ask Xendy for his help on how he did it. How he could bring his human body back? All she needed was her body back and she would start her life again.
Away from attachment. Away from anyone who would eventually hurt her. Iyya, defeated and sitting alone on the table, allowed the stream of blood to flow through her to her feet as she morphed into a human.
But just as quickly, she was not going down that easily. She quickly came up with Plan B in her mind. And she had planned effectively what she wanted to do in the few minutes she would be back in her human form again.
A crackle on her feet made her aware that the countdown had begun. She only had a few seconds for each move to do what she had planned effectively.
As she stood on her feet and turned left, she came face to face with a mirror that she hadn't noticed existed earlier. It was the first time she was now seeing the image of her body and face after five years.
The watchman from ZALA tied her down and gaged her every time she was on her period so that she did not move or make any noise that would alert anyone.
The image she was seeing in the mirror showed her how taller she had grown. She was taller than average and fully grown, and her hair was curry and golden black and went all the way to her legs.
Her eyes glowed with a little shimmer and were blue. She loved those kinds of eyes. Iyya had developed her late mother's eyes.
She didn't have these growing up. She was a brown-skinned girl, and her skin was a caramel complexion from her father's side, which is a mid-point of dark and light skin tone.
Her skin was very smooth as she traced it with her fingers. She was truly beautiful, a little undernourished, which made her look skinny.
However, she was a picture of perfection because she now totally looked like her beautiful mama.
She reminded herself that she had no time to waste and dwell on looking at her body. Which would disappear in the next few seconds, so she forced her legs to move.
It was difficult because her legs hadn't moved in five years, and it took a few extra seconds to come up to speed.
