Meeting Grandfather

Yun Shu took a deep breath as she followed Qi Zheng's mother into the house. Without Qi Zheng around, she was feeling a little anxious. Other than Qi Zheng, she did not know anyone else in this place.

The house was big and the decorations were beautiful. However, Yun Shu was not in the mood to appreciate all this.

She continued to follow Feng Jia Li until they reached the living room that was facing the garden.

Feng Jia Li motioned her to sit down. Then, she turned to the auntie and instructed her to prepare some drinks. Seeing the tension on Yun Shu's face made her smile.

"Qi Zheng only mentioned to us about you yesterday," Feng Jia Li said. "Yun Shu, I hope you did not mind the lack of preparation."

Yun Shu was about to call her 'auntie' before she stopped herself. She made a mental note to get used to this new situation.

"Mom, it's alright. I did not expect that everything would be too sudden either."

"Qi Zheng said that you both met at the hospital?"

Yun Shu recalled the story that she had told Qi Zheng to tell her parents previously. "Un. I injured myself and Qi Zheng came to help."

Feng Jia Li saw that her daughter-in-law was still very stiff and smiled. "Don't be anxious. I only wanted to chat to you a little bit."

Knowing that her daughter-in-law still needed time to adjust herself in the family, Feng Jia Li only asked her about the elders in her members.

Yun Shu's family was very small. Other than her grandmother and her mother, she did not have anyone else.

Not too long after, Qi Zheng appeared in the room with his father and grandfather both at his side. Seeing them, both Yun Shu and Feng Jia Li stood up quickly.

Feng Jia Li shot a helpless look at her son. She barely had enough time to talk to Yun Shu, but he had returned with his father and grandfather quickly.

"Qi Zheng, you're here?" A teasing look appeared on her face. "What is it? Are you worried that I might bully your wife?"

"Mom, this is Yun Shu's first time here. I worry that she would not be able to adapt quickly," Qi Zheng said. He walked over to Yun Shu's side and casually held her hand. Then, he gave her a gentle squeeze as if to tell her that everything will be alright.

The elders naturally noticed Qi Zheng's movement and the doubt in their hearts gradually lessen.

Qi Zi Mo led his father to the sofa and let him sit down comfortably. Only then did the elders turn to the newlyweds again.

Qi Zheng turned to his father and grandfather and spoke, "Grandfather, Dad, this is my wife, Yun Shu." He turned to the person beside him and continued, "Yun Shu, greet them."

Yun Shu took a deep breath and greeted them just like Qi Zheng. "Grandfather, Dad, hello." She put on a smile on her face, but everyone could see that she was a little tense.

"Yun Shu, you don't have to be so tense," Qi Zi Mo said. "We don't bite people."

Feng Jia Li shot a look at her husband, warning him not to spout any nonsense.

Yun Shu tried to calm down, however, meeting Qi Zheng's grandfather's gaze made her anxious again. Even without saying a word, the man had a fierce air around him. His eyes looked as if he could kill someone.

Her instinct told her that she needed to be careful around his grandfather.

Of course, Yun Shu was unaware that Qi Zheng's grandfather was in the military and had fought a few wars when he was younger. He was used to putting on this stern look on his face and this habit was not something that he could change.

Qi Xi Feng continued to observe the granddaughter-in-law that he had suddenly obtained.

After a while, he gave her a slight nod. "Yun Shu, come over. Let grandfather look at you."

The old man's voice was deep with a hint of strictness. Hearing his voice alone could make her hair stand up.

Suddenly, Yun Shu was questioning why was she doing all this. Qi Zheng said that he chose her to marry him because she looked like she would be good with an elder, like his grandfather.

If she had known that Qi Zheng's grandfather would be this scary, she would rethink of his proposal a few more times.

Yun Shu turned to Qi Zheng and blinked. Seeing the man's encouraging nod, Yun Shu finally stepped forward to the old man. "Grandfather."

Qi Xi Feng gave her a look over. Then, he raised his head to meet her gaze.

Yun Shu could feel her palm sweating. She could not help but feel as if Qi Xi Feng was trying to look deep into her soul.

She recalled that Qi Zheng had mentioned that his grandfather was a soldier. Yun Shu was sure that someone like Qi Xi Feng should not be an ordinary soldier.

After a while. Qi Xi Feng finally retracted his gaze.

He could tell that Yun Shu had clear eyes and a good temperament. His first impression of her was quite good.

Moreover... After Qi Zheng's announcement last night, he had asked his subordinate to find out whether his grandson was telling him the truth. According to the investigation, Yun Shu came from a humble family and had a clean background.

"Don't be afraid," Qi Xi Feng spoke.

Although he had tried to talk gently, his voice was able to scare some people. Being in the military for years required him to shout at the soldiers in the training ground. Later, his voice had become like this.

"You already obtained a marriage certificate with Qi Zheng. From now on, we'll be family. Although your marriage was too sudden, Grandfather hoped that you can get along with Qi Zheng and have a harmonious marriage." He tried to smile but the smile was a little stiff. "Come closer."

Yun Shu walked a little closer until Qi Xi Feng could touch her hand. Subconsciously, Yun Shu crouched down until she was around Qi Xi Feng's eye level. "Grandfather."

Suddenly, Qi Xi Feng took out a red envelope from his pocket and handed it to Yun Shu.

Her eyes widened in surprise. "Grandfather, this is..."

"This is for you. You just have to accept it and not allowed to reject it."

Her gaze subconsciously moved to Qi Zheng. Seeing the man nod at her, Yun Shu could only accept the gift with both hands. "Thank you, grandfather."

A breath of relief escaped her.

Yun Shu thought that she had done an okay job so far.
