12 Conditions

Princess Eleanor's eyes moved towards the source of the voice.

The man with a mask walked towards them. Although Princess Eleanor did not show any change in her facial expression, Nia had turned pale.

Princess Eleanor saw Sir Kit walking towards them. The smile on her face disappeared and a bad presumption spread through her body. She moved her gaze in between the man and her lady in waiting.

As Sir Kit was moving towards them, Princess Eleanor managed to smile. "What is Sir Kit doing here?" She asked in a soft tone.

Princess Eleanor disregarded the man's previous suggestion as if she was trying to hide something.

"Is there a reason why Sir Kit is here?" Princess Eleanor emphasized as she looked around.

Sir Kit smiled as he stood in front of the Princess. His eyes looked down at her lady in waiting, who was shivering a little.

"I said I can help the princess." Sir Kit repeated without any irritation in his tone.

Although Sir Kit's voice was deep that could make anyone's heart melt, it had a completely opposite effect on them. Princess Eleanor and Nia were shocked.

Nia was the most nervous there. Her eyes moved from Sir Kit toward the Princess from time to time. She could sense the unsettling tension between them.

"Is it?" Princess Eleanor folded her legs as she smiled. Her eyes glittered as she waited for the man to explain further. "And how is Sir Kit planning on doing that? How will you help us? What are you planning to help with?"

Sir Kit looked at Nia. As soon as his eyes locked with Nia's, her body turned pale. She did not know how to react.

Nia felt like her body was made of glass and if she made any sudden move, she might break at any moment.

"I know for what Princess needs help." Sir Kit seemed as he moved his concentration towards the Princess again, "It is for her lady in waiting, Isn't it?"

The surrounding became silent. No one said anything as only the sound of air could be heard.

Sir Kit was not discouraged seeing such a reaction. It made his assumptions stronger. "Isn't the recipient of the letters your lady in waiting?"

Sir Kit's lips curled up as if he had caught a culprit who was hard to catch. "I don't think my assumptions were wrong?"

"Or was it?" Sir Kit said as he looked at Nia, who trembled. Her throat was dry as she did not know how to react. Her eyes widened as she took a deep breath.

As a lady in waiting for Princess Eleanor, she knew that the situation she had found herself in was most dangerous. If she said something then it could be used against her but if she kept quiet then she was the most suspicious.

"Sir Kit must want something in return for his help." Princess Eleanor leaned forward as her eyes sharpened, "You must have something in mind."

"The Princess is right but it is not something difficult." Sir Kit said. His gaze lowered as he focused on Nia. "I can tell you the way now so that your lady in waiting can talk with her lover."

"Princess …" Nia said under her breath. How could she agree to it so easily? There was no chance of it happening.

Nia knew that such a deal usually came with a consequence. It was not of her to pay the price but for Princess Eleanor. Nia was not dumb, she understood that the knight wanted to strike the deal with her master.

Princess Eleanor was silent. She did not know how to react. She bit her lips as she thought.

'I can imagine what Sir Kit wants to propose but is it okay for me to agree without knowing the conditions first?'

Princess Eleanor was in turmoil. How can she not be when her heart was asking her to help Nia while her brain asked her to know the conditions first.

Princess Eleanor's eyes shifted to Nia who looked pale. She knew that Nia needed it. She knew that any way that Sir Kit proposes will bring her out of this mess created by Duke Felix.

"If Sir Kit is confident then he should tell us the way now. Time is running out." Princess Eleanor had made up her mind. She knew that this was the only way out.

"If Duke Felix wrote the letter addressed to me then no one would say a word. While the lady in waiting can use my name to reply. The only thing I wish is that they keep their love words hidden."

Nia was silent but her eyes stayed on the Princess. She did not have any strength to give an answer. She would just follow Princess Eleanor's words.

"This could work but what excuse is Sir Kit planning to make? People will ask why you were exchanging letters." Princess Eleanor's eyes were sharp. She could not rest at the moment.

"Everyone in the Kingdom is worried." Sir Kit was relaxed. His tone showed his confidence in his words, "I believe that every Princess or her assigned knight would be getting such letters of concern."

Princess Eleanor took a sharp breath. Her eyes stayed on Sir Kit as if she was determining whether to trust him or not.

When Princess Eleanor did not see any change in expression on the knight's face. She moved her eyes towards Nia who was looking at her.

Princess Eleanor knew that Nia was afraid. Maybe her lady in waiting will be uncomfortable writing using Sir Kit's name, but She also knew that this could help her clear her name.

'I cannot have any spot on my character now that I have decided to enter the Empire. I need to go there and search for the culprit.'

Princess Eleanor took a deep breath as she nodded her head, "Nia, go and tell Duke Felix that I should not be involved in anything and you both can decide whether to use Sir Kit's name or stop the conversation altogether. Let Sir Kit know your decision by tonight."

Princess Eleanor saw Nia look at her with unknown emotions. She nodded her head as she looked one last time at the man with a mask.

Princess Eleanor shook her hand and Nia understood. She needed to step out now and keep an eye for anyone entering.

Once Nia was away, Princess Eleanor focused on the topic at hand, "I hope now Sir Kit can tell me his conditions."
