MEMORY: Polaris (Part 2)

My roommate brought me to Bistro Uno, an outdoor and laid-back place where live bands play at night. Luckily, it was brighter than the other pubs in the square with just a candle lighting the table.

“Order anything you want,” my roommate said, looking pleased to treat me out.

I went over the menu and looked for the most expensive item. “Anything, huh? How about this seafood platter over here?” I joked, testing her reaction.

“Oh, if it’s seafood then I should’ve brought you to Chef Logan’s… although it’s quite a drive from here.” She frowned, looking like she was thinking hard about it. “But it has good reviews and I think it’s worth–”

“Hey hey, I’m just kidding,” I interrupted before she decided to drag me somewhere farther. “I actually don’t like seafood,” I admitted.

“Really?” She gave me a questioning gaze, probably thinking I was just making an excuse.
