Chapter 37 Houston is fortified

The US army was overwhelming the enemy forces thanks to Arthur's tactics. They had liberated 4 states already.

Clank*

General Ben clicked his wine glass with other people to celebrate their victory.

One of the politicians asked lightly.

" Do you think we can win this war? I mean we only managed to free the 4 weakest states in their hand. There are still 46 states."

General Ben turned around and shook his glass. His sharp eyes looked at the man's eyes to confirm his intentions.

" I wonder. You don't know about Mr. Frost, do you? He is the most brilliant strategist who outshines even me. The war will be over once we take back our capital."

General Ben said with a light tone albeit his glowing eyes. He was playing mind tricks on these politicians because he knew he couldn't trust anyone. So, he mixed the truth with lies to confuse the enemies.

General Ben was sure that there would be traitors among the high-ranking people here. Otherwise, how could the Soviets would take over them quickly? Therefore, he was aiming to lure the enemy.

The politicians whispered to each other and laughed loudly. However, General Ben could their greed and hypocrisy in their eyes. They were a bunch of hyenas who were waiting for their meal to be ready.

On the other hand, Arthur's army was united with other states' survivors. There were large numbers of people who were former soldiers in the army.

Arthur invited them to their army and they agreed to join. Of course, Arthur had sent their family back to his base in Princeton.

Tanya groaned as she opened the map. She was worried about their rations because there were a large amount of newcomers in their army. Although it was great to have new troops, they would raise the burden on their supplies.

" What is your decision? We are circling the central cities to reach Texas. The Soviets must have known our movements."

She said seriously. There was no way that they would be still in dark.

Arthur rubbed his chin and pondered slightly. He understood the importance of their actions, but they already spent a month to reach Houston. Besides, their force had grown exceptionally during their travel. Even though their supplies are a little too short, Arthur could confiscate that with his tactics.

He pointed at the map and looked into her eyes.

" They must be waiting for us to reach Houston because they knew this would be our last struggle. That is why this would be the hardest battle. Not only we had to face an entire army, but we will also deal with their air force, special units, and navy."

The colonel who was next to them opened his mouth.

" So they want to wipe out our force in one movement. How insidious! Sir, do we have another plan?"

Arthur sighed and shrugged his shoulders.

" Unfortunately, we have to face their entire force. I know there would be tons of casualties, so prepare yourselves. We are marching to our death. We can't possibly count on Admiral Easton because he has his own problems as well."

Tanya creased her eyebrows as her face turned ugly. She was wondering why Arthur was so gloomy, but she found her answer. They were going to sacrifice their men for this battle. She bit her lips and stood there silently.

2 days have passed since their meeting.

Arthur looked at Houston which it was fortified with large steel walls and countless soldiers. The Soviets already transferred their units to Houston with their new weapons.

Arthur clenched his fists while looking at the new tank. It had two giant electrical coils instead of large cannon.

" What a surprise! They have prepared a good gift for me. Haa, I wonder if there are any gifts for me."

He said quietly. Arthur turned around and looked at his men. They were showing resolution on their faces as they held their guns tightly. Arthur shouted.

" Listen up. Most of you will die here today, but this isn't suicide. You are sacrificing yourselves for your home and family. Your country won't forget your bravery. Hence, fight till the end. You are Americans, you have won once against them. You can win again."
