Chapter 24 Cuddling with Cadma

Cadma's point of view -

"I love you, what is the big deal about a mate anyway? I bet the Gods and Goddesses put our names are in a Male jar and a Female, which the Gods pull the names out of. I can see a God say Look this name is Jack and that name is Jill. They are perfect together!"

I watched Ashina break down in laughter at what I had said. She always thinks I am joking; I am not joking. I know how spunky she is, determined and stubborn. When she is stern her eyebrows knit together and then she is like a volcano boiling over. Akira laughs at my jokes; I mean really my jokes aren't the least bit funny.

Through her laughter, Akira seems to have trouble replying, "Cadma, I'm pretty sure it's more than that. It's like the gods see us and somehow, they take a part of our soul with their wolf. A male and a female are created. This way, they are both the same soul, and only true love and perfection can be found when they are bonded. You're empty without that soulmate."

Seeing Ashina laugh made my heart jump for joy, knowing I could make her feel that way. There's no doubt in my heart that she's right about true mates, I'm just too stubborn to admit it. As soon as Ashina became a teenager, I started having a crush on her. There's something different about Ashina than the other She dragons who want me just for my title. Dragonesses are just there for sex and have no real personality. While Ashina sets boundaries, she expects the best. There's something delicate about her face, yet porcelain, like a China doll, not the scary kind, but the kind you don't want to let go. That's not to say I play with dolls, but my mom has some.

As I sat with Ashina under the full moon, her head was buried in my chest. I didn't think life could get any better. Her pretty bluish black hair glowed under the moonlight as I played with each strand of it, and I swear it glowed under my fingers. As I imagined her and I as a real couple, I lost myself in my thoughts. Suddenly, I heard a wolf's feet pounding on the ground, and I knew it was that Alpha mutt. Soon he'd be barreling out of the trees, I knew how to rile him up.

"Ashina?"

Ashina looks up and says "Yes?" curious why I called her name.

I had to plan this right because once I did it, Ashina would beat the crap out of me.

The alpha was coming out of the trees within seconds. I looked into her eyes and said, "I love you Ashina." She tried to push back on my chest, but I kissed her anyway. As I held on tight, I heard a growl behind us, and the effect I was going for made me ecstatic.

Smirking in satisfaction, I watched an angry Alpha shift into his naked self and head towards me. This was my girl, and no wet dog would take her from me. I had the advantage because I was up at a higher angle than him, but that didn't stop his madness. I laughed at him, and he got even angrier. Honestly, I didn't care about Ashina getting angry to my left right now. I just wanted to beat the mutt so bad, he'd leave Ashina alone.

During the Alpha's attempt to grab me, I kicked my feet under him, causing the dirty dog to fall to the rocks. However, Ashina jumped up and caught one of this mutt's hands to keep him from falling onto the jagged rocks beneath us. She glared back at me angrily after I glared at her.

Once the Alpha had steadied himself, he smirked at me as he had been saved by Ashina. As I tried to push him away, he grabbed my shoulders and used my weight to toss me over him and down the mountain. I get back on my feet and head for the Alpha, this ends tonight. He cannot have my woman.

"Ashina is mine!" I roar at him. She was mine first!"

It was like I could feel the hate coming off the Mutt, "She's not yours!" "She is not your mate! Quit acting like she is! She is mine!" He growled at me.

As the mutt and I were about to throw punches, we both heard a loud growl that shook the ground like a mini earthquake.

Ashina growled out, "STOP!"

In that moment, we literally stopped. Our fists were ready to hit each other, but we couldn't. It never occurred to me that Ashina was also a witch, she never trained or experimented with her powers, I guess she wasn't interested, however here we are frozen, unable to speak or move. I think she was shocked at first and then yelled at us.

"I am not a prize to be won, and I am not an object to claim! "Her anger reverberated through the trees as torrent rain began to fall, and she turned around and left us. Make me remember not to anger her again.

Ashina's point of view-

I was so angry I couldn't get away from those two idiots fast enough. Who did they think they were? I am not damsel in distress, I am a warrior, and a Queen. I am not an object they can claim, what is wrong with those idiots?!

In a mind link, my beta asked me where the Alpha went when I got back to the pack grounds. There's a worry about him from his sister. When I laughed out loud, I said you guys had better go help them. The two of them are just spending time together. Pointing in the direction I'd left. As my beta looked at me with curiosity, I shrugged my shoulders and just said "You all better hurry up before they kill each other." That's when I saw my beta, and his beta with some men run out into the forest and shift into their wolves.

Seeing that I'm once again naked, I head to the bathtub to take a long, warm bath to relax.

While enjoying scented bubble bath, my beta sends me a mind link.

"Ashina, I don't know what to do. We can't move them; they can't move, and we can't move them. We're in the middle of a terrible downpour. Hey Ashina! Can you tell me what happened?"

Laughing to myself, I blocked out my beta. I don't know how I did it, but those two deserve it. It feels good to close my eyes and just relax.
