The War Goddess and Her Evil Husband

Excerpt: I felt laughter bubble and erupt from my throat as I hissed. "Loki you son of a bitch, what is the meaning of all of this?" The man who laid under me erupted into just as maniacal laughter as his face brightened. His voice purred as he said laboriously. "Oh my dear! I can't believe that you seem to recognize me so quickly! I thought that I would hide myself so that there would be some suspense in our reunion. You are of no fun my dear. In this case, why don't we skip the pleasantries and just skip to the part of you taking your hands off my throat?" I laughed once more. I could kill him. I could kill him! I could finally kill this son of a bitch! Loki then slowly raised himself despite my vice-like grip on his throat and whispered in my ear. "As you know my dear, I do love to be choked but only in bed." ..................................................... Hjordos(Hiordos) was an esteemed war goddess who fought to represent the people when the Norse gods turned on them. The god of trickery, Loki then makes a deal with her. If she offers herself as a sacrifice, the Norse gods will stop the war and ensure peace for humans for all of eternity. Hjordos agrees and as Loki's sword enters her she realizes that she has been tricked. As Hjordos dies with Loki's laughter she vows that if she is reborn she would surely kill him. To her surprise Hjordos is reborn! But not as a war goddess, instead she is reborn as a weak empress who was poisoned to death by the emperor's concubines! As Hjordos adjusts to her new life she sees the people of the empire suffer from famine as the emperor indulges in women and wine. She takes it upon herself to rebel in order to save the very people that she sacrificed herself for in the past. This is a story with a badass female lead and a love triangle! Chapter 6: The Renowned Miss

Nothing in all of my years of fighting wars in the most violent of battlefields would have prepared me for the battlefield which I have found myself in. The corpses of many fallen dresses and a material called, "corsets" littered the floor. Shoes which had knives sticking out from the back of them were thrown aimlessly. Small disks filled with colorful powders littered the ground and dyed the white floor. A woman with her spectacles crooked to one side heaved as she walked towards me with a brush in her hand. Her wrinkles intensifying as she depended on her last bit of energy to attack.

I cried out as I began to feel cornered between the emerald colored sofa and the golden nightstand. My eyes wandered as they looked for a weapon to protect myself with. No way would I let this opponent succeed. As I picked up a hairpin a jolt of pain filled my head.

My screams radiated through the room as pain filled my head.

"I apologize to interfere ma'am but the Miss is just brushing your hair."

I seethed as I sat on the ornate chair. I winced as the older Miss continued to brush through the serpent-like tendrils of mine called hair. She smiled a small smile as she continued to brush through my hair. A small tune escaping her smooth and youthful lips which betrayed her age.

I sighed as I let the pain pass. I turned to a confused Edgard and Arvis. They coughed and pretended to be interested in the ceiling as I glared at them.

A BUNCH OF TRAITORS!

I sighed as I remembered the events of earlier today. This Miss Reina seemed like the calm and collected type but as soon as she looked at me I felt her malice. The closed eye smile of hers as she would open her eyes and slowly traced my face with her sharp, violet eyes.

Calculating and noting on every single flaw in mere seconds. Even the greatest of my strategists didn't have such skill. I winced once more as another serpent was cut off.

"I apologize your majesty but your hair is quite the rat's nest if I may say so myself and I have seen the hair of all noble ladies in the kingdom."

I heard muffled scoffs in the corner as I turned once more to an amused Edgard and Arvis. Now I was truly sure of the training that I would give them today. I smiled at them. The two of them flinched and recoiled. Their heads dropping to show their apologetic stance. I waved my hand dismissively to state,

"You are forgiven."

They nodded and stood tall once more.

The corsets and dresses which littered the ground caught my attention once more. I shivered. In my previous life the women were spared from such ridiculous ruffles, embroidery, jewels, and tightening contraptions that are war weapons on their own. How could women sustain such pain? I thought that human beings would evolve with time but instead they are getting more foolish.

A couple of minutes passed before Miss Reina exhaled heavily and released my hair. I looked into the mirror and covered my open mouth. My long red hair which was curled and unruly now fell in smooth rolling tides. My pale skin clashed with that of my now amplified eyes with the pen, and multiple powders which had filled my eyelids. My lips now luscious with a red similar to that of my rosy cheeks and red hair. The way my yellow eyes were extenuated provided the look of a warrior.

I laughed to myself. I was a beauty in my past life but I truly do have the look of a goddess now. I smiled at Miss Reina and stood up. She looked at me in confusion as I embraced her. I then whispered a short,

"Thank you."

Suddenly moisture pooled in my eyes. Tears then traced my cheeks. The memory of my fallen comrades came to mind as I imagined what they would say if they were to see me.

"Your majesty?"

I looked to a confused Miss Reina as she patted my back. I smiled once more and chuckled through my tears. I then backed away from the embrace. Humans such as that of Miss Reina continue to remind me of my love for them. I took a deep breath and looked towards my two knights. I need to go outside into the common town and see that state of these people. I will deal with my revenge on Loki later on.

Now my priority is to take care of the people here. People who are probably all descendants of those fallen comrades of mine. I held my aching heart. They were the only family I had. And now I will make all the people in this empire my family.

I then took cloak which was hung and covered myself in it. If anyone dared to stand in my way I would cut them down. That much I swear.

I then looked at Arvis and Edgard.

"Let's move out men, the people of this empire are awaiting."
