"She was right behind us. Then Amy opened that door, and things--" Sasha started to hyperventilate. Bohannon moved to calm her down.

Even Sasha's time in the hotel before Bohannon found her wasn't as bad as the school. There were dead folks everywhere. In multiple rooms, around corners, standing in the halls. The deeper the group went, the worse the situation became.

"Okay, we need to find Adelaide. That means we need to let them in."

"No..No, we don't. She can already be dead. " Sasha protested.

"Selfish bitch..." Amy sneered. " If Bohannon asked Adelaide to help look for you, she would do it."

Bohannon forced Sasha to refocus on him. " I'll hold the door and control the flow. All you need to do is kill the ones that come through."

"B-Bohannon... I don't think I can." she stammered.

"You can! And you will!" he roared.

Amy pulled Sasha back, and Bohannon took his spot at the door. A moment later, he opened the dead folks pushed their way through. Amy flashed forward and hacked a piece of its head off with her hatchet into the head of the walking corpse.

Bohannon used all of his strength to control flow. Sasha eventually got in the right mind state, and the ladies started to cut them down. Eventually, the door to the room was left wide open, and the bodies on the floor created a mound the horde had to crawl over, making it easier to dispatch them.

Everything took longer than Bohannon wanted, but when it was clear enough, the trio pushed through and was forced to use their firearms to keep a safe distance. When the group made it to the end of the hall, Bohannon and the others could hear the sound of gunfire in the distance.

Bohannon smiled to himself and pushed on until the head of Dead Fella exploded, and Adelaide dropped a magazine and replaced it with a full one.

"You came back this time?" Adelaide asked.

Bohannon just shrugged. "You alright?"

"I think so. Met this guy a while back, taught me how to handle myself," she replied.

"Sound like a decent fella."

Adelaide nodded as her bottom lip quivered, and she crossed the distance to throw her arms around Bohannon. He embraced her as she whispered, " The best I've ever met."

"I ain't gone ever leave you again, Darling. I could have lost you for real. Stay close, alright."

Bohannon could feel Adelaide nod. She then stepped back and regained her composure. 'Damn strong woman,' Bohannon thought.

"You ready to raid this bitch?" he asked.

"Let's do it. I actually hid in this lab, with a lot of stuff. It next to a storage room with more supplies, like fertilizer, tools, seeds. I think it was for research, though. I saw a hazmat sign on the door." Said Adelaide.

Bohannon frowned. "Take me to it."

Adelaide nodded, then led the group to the room where she hid after getting separated from Bohannon and the group. When they arrived, Bohannon walked into the room cautiously as he said, "No one touches anything. Botany research usually deals in medicine studies or cultivation efficiency. Both are beneficial in the post-apocalyptic world."

"Charlus? What's your gut telling you?" Adelaide asked.

" Nothing," Bohannon spoke as he looked at the boards in the room and the papers on the desk. " We need to take it all. Pack everything, and let's load the truck. Find another vehicle and keep everything labeled. Wait, Adelaide, take Amy to the biology department and get what we need. Sasha and I will handle this."

"And the extra Vehicle?" Amy asked.

"Vehicles... Try and find two. A box truck is preferable. My gut is telling us we have time, so take it easy." Bohannon replied.

Adelaide nodded and pulled Amy along. Bohannon and Sasha worked in silence. He boxed the paperwork, computers, and lab equipment. Sasha loaded up laboratory carts and kept everything organized.

Keeping to the buddy system, Sasha and Bohannon made multiple trips until the lab was empty. By the time Adelaide and Amy rolled around with a yellow box truck, it was already mid-evening.

Bohannon loaded everything that didn't fit in his truck into Adelaide. Looking at her inventory, Bohannon could see that she and Amy worked just as hard as they did.

"This is for you." Said Adelaide as she handed him a campus map.

Bohannon looked it over with a raised eyebrow.

"You wanted to hit with me?" He asked.

"You know I do." She said.

-------------------------------------

"Bohannon, Has your gut ever been wrong?" Adelaide asked as they entered another building.

Bohannon made a sharp right with his gun raised, aiming down the hall. "Clear. And no, never," he replied.

Adelaide put her left hand on his right shoulder, and the duo began to push through in sync with the other's steps.

"But is the gut protecting you? or do you think of something, and my gut just signals for a better answer to your question?" She asked in a low as they stopped at the first classroom.

"It's like how birds know to fly south for winter. Hershel is fucked up, and I got this knawing feeling that I need to get supplies. If we hit a fork in the road during the winter, my gut would stir me away from the dangerous path. Jimmy was going to drink this water, and my gut told me no. It comes and goes as it pleases. My pah once told me that the divine gut is divine will. Listen to it, and I'll be exactly where I need to be when I need to be there."

"That's how you ended up in North Carolina. Did your Gut tell you to save me?"

"I don't know how to answer that question. What if I say yes?"

"Then I would say divine will wants us together. Hell of way to learn who your soul mate is."

Bohannon chuckled, then sped into the classroom, ready to kill a few dead fellas.

"Clear."

"Clear."

"Don't get me wrong, Adelaide. I just figured that was a real roundabout way to say that you love someone."

"What? I never said anything about love." she protested with a blush.

"Well, that's a shame, cause I would have said I love you too...Come on, Mrs. Bohannon, we're wasting time." Bohannon left the classroom, and Adelaide's face was hot pink now.

"And Willie Nelson said, cowboys, ain't easy to love. Ha! Fuck you, Willie. My man's a cowboy." Adelaide whispered as she followed Bohannon out of the room.

The couple continued to clear the classrooms when Adelaide finally asked, "Mrs. Bohannon? You're joking, right?"

Bohannon threw the last classroom door open and killed the first dead fella that came out. He then looked at Adeliade with a half-smile. "Adelaide Victoria Kane, Marry Me."

"holy shit, you're serious."

Bohannon unholstered his second tomahawk and gave it to Adelaide. "Be my wife."

Adelaide giggles. "Fuck a ring. Matching pistols and tomahawks is the new thing now, huh?"

"Hell yea. Trust me. It'll catch on." Bohannon replied.

"Bohannon..." Adelaide got serious, "what happened to letting me take my time?"

"you don't have to say anything right now. I'm just putting the offer out there. I want you to know half of my shit is yours. As long as I'm alive, you won't go hungry for food or love."Bohannon leaned down to kiss her forehead.

"That door leads to the shop. If they have genies and fuel, it'll be there," said Bohannon, looking at the sign above the door that read ' Auto Shop.'

"well, let's get her done." Adelaide

Walking through the doors, Adelaide chucked her new tomahawk at a dead fella's head, then put a bullet between the eyes of another. Bohannon followed her up with three quick trigger pulls and dropped three more walking corpses.

"We just might be soulmates," Bohannon commented as he passed by Adelaide and went on to looked for fuel, generators, tools, and spare parts.

"Told you, dummy." Adelaide spoke in a low tone as she gushed. She then went her own way to cut the raiding time in half.
