Chapter 49 Cleaning up Woodbury

When all the people and been gathered in front of the Governor's building. The sound that they were making was quite loud, even though they were all muzzled. They were muttering and looking around, they were all frightened, unsure of what will happen to them. They were all sitting on the ground, they were in a neat row of lines. There were 15 in each row and 5 rows, making a neat rectangle.

John looked out the window at them and saw that the people were all there. His team was all there, keeping guard. John turned to Victoria and said, "Showtime."

Victoria nodded and then she followed John. They walked out of the room, went down the stairs, and then they walked through the lobby. Walking through the front door, they saw all the people sitting there.

When the people saw the door open, they looked toward it with hopeful expressions, expecting to see the Governor. But their expressions changed quickly when they saw John walk out with Victoria following him. John walked in front of all of them, he said loudly, "How are you guys doing? I hope we didn't scare you too much last night."

The group was muttering, looking at John, they nodded slowly. Seeing this, John looked at his men and said, "Take off their muzzles. They can ask their questions then and we can move this along quicker."

His team did what John told them, the people, now able to speak. All started to ask questions at the same time. John slightly annoyed, glared and said, "Hey! Quiet! One at a damn time!"

The people immediately shut up; the area was now completely silent. Even the sound of breathing stopped. John seeing this nodded, then he turned to Victoria and nodded at her. Seeing this sign, Victoria immediately walked over, now in front of her people.

She said, "Hi, everyone. You all know me. This man beside me is named John and we will be joining his group. Any questions?"

Her people looked at her and then at John. They looked closely at the intimidating man, wearing all black, decked out in weapons. They could see the spike part of the bat, from under his black trench coat. They could see the dried blood on it.

They looked back at Victoria, and they all raised their hands, while the kids just sat there quietly. The kids were hugging their parents and looking with fearful expression at the armed men.

Seeing the sea of hands, Victoria pointed at one of them, the man said, "What will happen now?"

Victoria answered, "Now, John will take us all to his base, and we will stay there from now on." She then pointed at a woman, the woman asked, "Is John's base safe? Is there food there and supplies? What about doctors?"

Victoria nodded as she said, "Yes, this base has everything you would need."

With that most of the people had lowered their hands, only a few were left up. Victoria pointed at another person.

The man said, "When do we go?"

Hearing this John said, "We go soon. Today."

Suddenly, John heard Glen's voice through the radio. Glen said, "John a herd of walkers is coming toward this gate. I need you guys here, now." John then started to hear a pew sound repeatedly.

John's whole team had heard Glen, so they immediately ran over to the gate. The people saw this and started to panic, John said, "Calm down, it's just some walkers. We'll take care of it."

John then told Victoria to stay with the others and keep them calm as he ran over to the gate as well. Arriving at the gate, John ran up the stairs and looked forward. There was a sea of walkers, about 300 of them. Seeing this John didn't even flinch, John team wasn't too concerned either.

John then aimed his Mp5 and started to shoot at the walkers. John switched his firing mode to single shot, then he aimed at walker heads one by one. The rest of his team, switched to 3 round bursts. John and his team decimated the walkers. When the walkers were all dead, the group reloaded their last clip and then they went back to the group of captive people.

Arriving in front of them, John said, "All taken care of. Now, I'm going to contact the rest of our group and they will bring transport vehicle." Seeing the group of people nod, John said, "Untie them, but keep a good watch on them we don't want any unexpected situation."

John's team untied the civilians, but they left the guards tied, just in case. John pulled out his long-distance radio and contacted Rick. John said, "Hey Rick, we didn't just sneak in and out, taking Andrea. We took out their leader and now they are going to join us."

Rick said, "What? I thought you were just going to take Andrea. Why the change?"

John answered, "Well, I found the Governor in a secret room. He was brushing the hair of a walker. There were also decapitated walker heads floating in fish tanks. Anyway, I decided that it would be safer for everyone, if I took out the threat."

Rick said back, "You made the right choice, what kind of sick fuck was this, Governor?"

John said, "Yeah. So, I was contacting you, in order to arrange a transport of all these people."

Rick replied, "Alright then, I'll have some guys drive over in the buses we found not long ago."

John said, "Okay then, we'll be waiting for you." John then put away his radio and looked towards people. They all had shocked expressions and were murmuring about the Governor. Even Victoria was shocked because John hadn't told her about the walker heads.

Seeing this John said, "Okay then, everyone. We will be leaving in approximately 4 hours, so please go and pack anything that you want to take with you.

Everyone nodded and went back to their houses, now that everyone knew they would be okay. They were smiling brightly.

John walked with Victoria back to her place after she had asked him to. John walked her in the room and asked her, "Is there anything you need?"

Victoria nodded and said, "Could you please help me move the crib? I want to take it with me."

John nodded before he moved the crib, while he was doing this, Victoria was packing her clothes, along with her baby's clothes.

When John came back in, she was all packed up, so John helped her with some of the bags, and carried the crib. As they made their way back to the meet up spot.

When they arrived, many people were already waiting, they had multiple bags with them.

John and his team then began to talk to everyone and get to know them. They found several things they had in common, and they hadn't been able to talk to new people in a long time, so they were happy.

Like this the hours flew by as more and more people came with their things. These people would also join in and talk, they asked about the base and talked about all their hopes and dreams. John looked at this and almost thought it wasn't the end of the world.

Victoria who was standing bear John, smiled. She had been so fearful of this man for so long last night, that she wasn't able to see how handsome he was. But she quickly caught herself, saying to herself, 'He's married and has a baby on the way, I would have no chance, plus a man like John definitely has his fair share of pursuers.'

Victoria then sighed defeatedly, John who had watched her, patted her shoulder before he walked off to talk to some more people. Victoria watched his back, sighing before she followed after him. She became his little shadow, but she had to stop when her baby started to cry softly. Hearing this she sat off to the side and breastfed him.

When the transport vehicles came, John helped Victoria put her things on the vehicle, before he walked around and helped some elderly as well. When everyone was in a vehicle, they began to drive back to the prison. John rode beside Victoria as he told her more about the prison, he also told her about his wives.

Victoria thought, 'Wives. Maybe I have a shot.' She then talked with John, with a new vigor. She would laugh sweetly at John's dumb jokes and lightly hit his shoulder.

When they got to the prison hours later, John and Victoria were pretty close to each other. They got out of the bus together and John helped her with her stuff. When John had been walking with her Sarah came running over. She said, "Daddy, you're back. I missed you."

She then hugged John's leg before looking at Victoria, she hid behind John's leg, shyly. Victoria bent down holding Charlie, and said, "Hi sweetie. I'm Victoria, I'm your dad's-- close friend." Sarah peeked out and looked at her before saying, "Hi."

Sarah then ran off over to a group of ladies, Victoria looked at the ladies and saw that two of them were very pregnant. The ladies were looking at her closely, as if examining her. They saw a pretty redhead with slightly curly hair, blue eyes and a nice figure.

They then looked over at John and smiled at him before walking over, they hugged and kissed John as he introduced Victoria to them. The women all greeted each other with smiles and John's wives looked at Victoria's baby.

The women then all left John behind for some "girl's talk". John then walked into the cell block and set up Victoria's stuff in a room. This room was next to John's room. John had two areas, the tower and then a cell. John walked out and saw that Rick's group was talking with everyone who came and was setting them up.

John saw his girls and Victoria chatting, so he walked over to where Sarah was playing with a new girl. He started to play with her and play pretend, John's group was used to it, but the group from Woodbury, were not. They started laughing when they saw John sit there as Sarah put lipstick on his lips and bows in his hair. Victoria was laughing along, but John didn't care, he had been playing with Sarah like this for a long time. John had to say though, Sarah was great at doing hair, she would put his hair in a whole bunch of cool braids and stuff. One time, she made him look just like a Viking, John had even grown out his beard at her request. He looked like the king of Vikings at one point.

His wives only let him keep the look for a week before they made him shave, saying, "Your beard feels funny, 'Down there'."

Later, a whole bunch of people came out of the kitchen, carrying out tons of trays of food. They were celebrating the new arrivals; the arrivals were happy with this. This action brought the two groups closer together. Andrea tried to get close to Michone again, but Michonne said, "You chose a warm bed over a friend." Then Michonne walked away from Andrea and sat near Rick. Andrea seeing this sighed before she walked over to Amy and started to talk to her about the baby.

Afterwards everyone filed out of the area back to their rooms, some were shambling as there had been alcohol as well, Merle's moonshine. John led Victoria to her cell, she was a little drunk, so John was holding Charlie. When they got there Victoria kissed John's cheek, as he lay Charlie down in his crib, before covering him.

John then started to walk out but Victoria pulled his arm, dragging him to bed.
