"Have you given any thought to Daryl Dixon?" He asked
"He won't be happy to hear his brother was left behind." Dale said.
"I'll tell him. I dropped the key, it's on me." T- dog said.
"I cuffed him, that makes it mine." Rick said.
"Guys it's not a competition. I don't mean to bring race into this but it might sound better coming from a white guy." Glenn said
"I did what I did. Hell if I'm gonna hide from him." T-Dog said.
"We could lie." Amy said
"Or tell the truth. Merle was out of control, he would have gotten us killed." Andrea said
Finally T-Dog told us that he had managed to chain the door to the roof Merle was on, meaning Merle was still alive.
Finally we all decided it was time to go to bed.
"Good night Amy." I whispered in her ear.
"Good night Shane." She whispered back and I watched as her blue eyes never left mine as we walked back to our tents.
I opened my tent and grabbed another jacket before grabbing the shotgun and heading up on top of the RV.
I decided to keep watch at night since I hadn't asked anyone else yet to do it.
I would take a few naps here and there to make sure my energy was good for tomorrow.
Early the next morning before the sun came up I went down to the lake in the jeep to fill the water jug backup and finally made it to camp and everyone was up now and moving around.
"Water is here yall. Just a reminder to boil before use."
I got out of the jeep and saw Rick up talking with Lori and waved at them and they both waved back with a smile.
"Good morning Shane." Amy came and helped me get the water down from the Jeep.
"Morning Amy. How was your sleep?"
"We'll it was alright but it woul-"
Before she could finish he heard Carl screaming from the woods.
With swift speed I ran toward where I heard the scream.
Thankfully we saw Carl come out of the woods unharmed.
Running past him we saw a walker chewing on a dead deer, the guts hanging in its mouth and the blood dripping down its chin.
It pulled apart the guts and chewed on it when it finally noticed us.
It started to slowly stand up and look in Rick's direction.
"Stab through the head Rick, clean and easy." I said and Rick nodded.
The walker stumbled forward a bit and right when it did Rick put the bar right through its head before letting it fall down, the crowbar still stuck in its head.
"This is the first one we've had up here." Dale said.
"They never come this far up the mountain."
"They're running out of food in the city." Jim said
"We will have to tie cans around the camp later, to make sure we can hear them coming." I said
Everyone seemed to like my idea but before they could voice their opinion's we all heard a nearby bush rustle and I pointed my shotgun at it.
But a second later Daryl stepped out and seemed pissed to see his deer all fucked up.
"Oh Jesus! Damn it!"
"That's my deer!" Daryl said
"Look at it all nawed one by this filthy disease bearing, motherless poxy bastard." Daryl said as he continued to kick the shit out of the dead walker.
"Calm down son, that's not helping." Dale said
"What do you know about it old man!" Daryl got in Dale's face.
"Why don't you take that stupid hat and go back to "on golden pond." He said almost causing me to laugh but I held it in.
"I've been tracking this deer for miles. Was going to drag it back to camp. Cook us some venison." He said as he took the arrows out of the deer.
"What do you think? We can cut around this chewed up part right here." He pointed around the chewed up area of the deer.
"I would not risk that." I shook my head
"We'll that's a damn shame."
"But I got some squirrels, about a dozen or so."
"That'll gotta do." Daryl said before we all started walking back toward camp.
"Merle!" Daryl started to yell out causing all of us to look at eachother.
Merle! Merle! Get your ugly ass out here! I got us some squirrel! Let's stew 'em up! Daryl said
"Daryl, just slow up a bit. I need to talk to you." I said
"About what?" Daryl asked
"About Merle, there was a problem in Atlanta." I said
"He dead?" Daryl asked while looking around.
"We're not sure." I said.
"Well he either is or he ain't!" Daryl screamed
"No easy way to say this so I'll just say it." Rick said while stepping in front of Daryl.
"Who are you?" Daryl asked
"Rick grimes."
"Rick Grimes, you got something you want to tell me!" Daryl asked
"Your brother was a danger to us all, so I handcuffed him on a roof, hooked him to a piece of metal. He's still there." Rick said
"Hold on. Let me process this. You're saying you handcuffed my brother to a roof and you left him there?!" Daryl asked in anger.
"Yeah."
Daryl goes to attack him, but Rick shoves him off.
"Hey! Watch the knife!" T-Dog yells
Daryl pulls his knife out, but Shane is able to come up behind him and put him in a chokehold.
"Okay. Okay." I said while keeping Daryl in my hold.
"You'd best let me go!" Daryl yells
"Nah, I think it's better if I don't."
"Choke hold's illegal."
"You can file a complaint. Come on, man. We'll keep this up all day." I said
" I'd like to have a calm discussion on this topic. Do you think we can manage that? Do you think we can manage that? " Rick ask
"Hmm?"
"Mmm. Yeah." Daryl gives in
I let him go
"What I did was not on a whim. Your brother does not work and play well with others"
"It's not Rick's fault. I had the key. I dropped it." T-Dog says
"You couldn't pick it up?"
"Well, I dropped it in a drain."
"If it's supposed to make me feel better, it don't."
"Well, maybe this will. Look, I chained the door to the roof… So the geeks couldn't get at him… With a padlock. It's gotta count for something."
"Hell with all y'all! Just tell me where he is so that I can go get him."
"He'll show you. Isn't that right?" Lori said while looking at Rick with a scowl.
"I'm going back." Rick nods.
Rick then rounded up three other people and a group of four set off toward the city but not before Shane gave a few rounds of ammo to Rick.
Shane wasn't mad at Rick for going. Plus the need for guns was high which made it even better. Guns were worth more than gold now.
Daryl, T-Dog, Glenn and Rick left to go get Merle back and I would stay back at camp and make sure nothing happened.
