A Dance with Darkness

Damian paced back and forth in his secluded study, the muted lighting casting long shadows on the walls. Fuck. Fuck. Ezio recognized him. The shit kept going from bad to worse. The minute his eyes locked with the old goat, he knew he was in trouble. Ezio had dealings with a variety of mafia leaders, one of the most prominent families was the Malfitano. They were discrete of course, but Damian knew if Ezio thought he was a threat he'd get rid of him immediately. Fuck! Damian sighed through his nose.

His phone buzzed, indicating an incoming call from Fazio Malfitano. With a deep breath, he composed himself and answered, bracing for the conversation ahead. "Fazio," Damian's voice was laced with a mix of annoyance and apprehension. 

"Damian," Fazio's gravelly voice crackled through the line, a sense of authority underscoring his words. "We need to talk. The job wasn't completed as planned."
