Chapter 22

With a sense of purpose, Ray followed Amanda, leaving the main office, making their way towards the training grounds. As they arrived, the atmosphere buzzed with anticipation, with hunters in various stages of preparation. Ray's eyes scanned the scene, taking in the diverse group of individuals who would be his comrades in the upcoming raid.

Among them, he noticed Lucia, swinging her staff around the grounds deflecting magic bullets as she quick fired wind spells.

Opposite her stood Felix, firing the magic bullets out of his rifle before switching to a pistol depending on how close Lucia gets. Every shot if not blocked by Lucia, would land square. It was clear that his precision and skill with guns was unmatched.

Finally, his gaze fell upon the final Silver Fang member he hadn't yet met.

James, a towering figure with a presence that commanded attention. He sat cross legged in the training grounds a few metres away from a straw dummy with his katana peacefully resting in his lap. Ray blinked and saw James behind the dummy with his weapon pointed to the sky and the dummy, in half beginning its descent to the floor.

He turned his head and approached Ray. Ray stood stunned before extended his hand, ready to form a bond with his newfound companions.

"Hello, you must be James," Ray greeted warmly, shaking James' hand firmly. "Let me properly introduce myself. My name is Ray Obsidian. It's a pleasure to join the Silver Fangs."

James clasped Ray's hand, returning the firm handshake. "Welcome, Ray. Whilst I wasn't there, I heard of your exploits against the Wendigos. Your courage and skill are impressive. I'm James, a magic swordsman, and the vice-captain of the Silver Fangs. Together, we'll make quite the formidable team."

Amelia, the Silver Fang leader, stepped forward, her voice carrying a sense of authority. "Ray will be our fifth and final member in the Silver Fangs. I hope you all can get along and work together seamlessly. Our objective is clear, and our strength lies in unity."

Lucia and Felix disengaged, looking over.

Ray nodded, a fire of determination burning in his eyes. "I'm honoured to be part of this team."

Lucia, smiled warmly, her voice filled with encouragement. "Ray, we're thrilled to have you with us."

"Okay now that introductions are done, prepare for the raid. That dungeon won't clear itself!" Amelia shouts as he heads to the armoury "Ray follow me."

Ray nods and chases after her.

Within the armoury, Amelia pulls out a relatively battered armour and hands it over.

"As you're new, I understand you probably don't have much money for hunter armour so for now you can use this old armour" Amelia says as she grabs her crimson red armour. "Head into the changing rooms and suit up."

Amelia proceeds to disappear into the female changing rooms and Ray eyes the armour. The armour was full silver but slightly rusty, whilst it was slightly indented, it still looked usable and strong.

Ray flipped it over and examined it for a while longer before heading into the changing rooms and putting it on.

As he came out, Amelia suited up in her crimson red breastplate and red leggings slashed with yellow colour. She looked at him impressed. "It fits you well, go! Join the others."

Ray nodded and followed her instructions.

As he joined the others, Amelia greeted the group.

They all went into the company van, heading over to the dungeon.

Ray looked around in the back of the van after sitting down.

"I have never been in a dungeon larger than F rank, what do I need to know?" Ray asks.

"James, you explain" Amelia commands from the driver seat.

"When we enter, we get into formation" James begins whilst he sharpens his katana. "You're going to be on the frontlines with me protecting Lucia at the back. One layer behind you will be Amelia and Felix. Whilst she is capable of fighting, we want her to focus on healing and long ranged attacks whenever she can. Guard her with your life.

"Amelia will tell you what to do and when to do it, during this. There will be a team of F ranks far from us who will be collecting the loot, a few more floors than an E rank and quite a bit more than F, it will take us at least a full day to complete this so we have food prepared during the raid. Understood?"

"Uhhh…" Ray stalled from information overload.

"Don't worry, you will experience this personally, your body will remember" Felix said whilst cleaning the shaft of one of his rifles.

Soon the van began to slow as they approached the hunter's association's checkpoint for their assigned dungeon. Amelia handed over her license to the security guard who put it into a card scanner and asked her a few questions whilst another walked to behind the van.

Shortly afterwards, the man came around and opened the van scanning everyone's hunter IDs. After scanning Ray's ID, he left and closed the door.

"Okay you're good to go. Good luck" The security guard speaking to her declared.

The van gathered a bit of speed as it got closer to the dungeon.
