Page XXXII - Sea of Blood [I]

~~***~~

It was a dark cold place as it stretched out to infinity. The abyss where she was standing on. But once she looked, the old phrase suddenly went through her mind.

[If you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares back at you.]

The dark pitched world suddenly started to take shape. She was sitting on a car as the winds drifted on her hair, casually riding through the wind as they were driving off in the distance.

The soundless abyss suddenly started to produce sounds.

The beautiful singing of her mother and father were heard resonating throughout the entire ride. "Celaine! Verana! Are you excited? We're going to the beach! Man I'm ex-... Verana's asleep... Hey Verana!"

Verana is Celaine's older sister. Several years older than her.

"Dear, calm yourself down. Although, I'm also excited." Celaine's mother, let out a smile. That beautiful smile that will surely mark someone's memories.

"Its been a while since we've all got together. Vacations are awesome! Isn't it!? Those damn ugly ass old fools up there keeps on nagging me about this and that..."

"Dear, language." Simple words from the mother and Arturo began to swallow his own saliva.

"Eh ah... Hahaha..!" He slowly turned his head to look at Celaine. "Sorry about that Celaine! HAHA!"

But Celaine didn't answer but smiled. But her eyes suddenly widened as she saw something huge in the distance. She raised her hand and pointed at it.

Arturo was confused at first but soon looked back and saw a bus heading their way. "Honey, the bus!"

"Huh? Just let them be." The mother replied.

"They're not driving in the right lane!"

"And they're speeding up!"

"Honey, move aside!"

But it was far too late.

Celaine was paralyzed as the dark shadowy figure in the distance grew larger.

And larger.

And larger.

To the point that it was no longer in the distance.

But below them.

The car they were on were smashed in the front. Her mother being caught in it, legs crushed and the pieces piercing through her skin.

Verana woke up. She began to look around. Confused as to why she was sleeping on the road. She looked at herself and saw the amounts of bruises and an open wound from being grinded on the ground. The pain suddenly activated as she felt it all as she screamed loudly. Unable to move.

Her father instantly jumped to Celaine's aid and held her tight with a hug. His father was sent flying out of the car and into the road. But he never once let go or loosen the hold on Celaine's body.

Several pieces of the car stabbed him in multiple areas. He let go of Celaine and placed her lightly on the ground. No injuries. He sighed in relief. But the flying debris are still dangerous.

He never moved as he shielded Celaine from all of it by staying on top of her.

At first it was droplets of blood that trickled through Celaine's cheeks.

She's still paralyzed by what was going on. Confused. Until she realized what was going on. But it was too late.

She blanked out for several seconds and when she came to, her whole body was covered in his father's blood. Doesn't even dare to move from his position.

The shrieks of people around them just coming out from their cars were all muffled in Celaine's ears.

She looked up to her father, "Papa..?"

"Let's... take that trip... next time." Arturo lost his strength and finally falls down next to Celaine.

She laid there, frozen. Until the help arrived. In the ambulance, she didn't say anything. In the hospital, she never spoke anything about the questions being asked.

For a whole month, she didn't speak anything as she was confined in that hospital.

Her mind wasn't filled with anything. But the sea of blood of her parents as she was swimming. Trying to find the light in that never ending sea of blood. But she couldn't find it.

She just fell and drowned in that sea of blood.

It took a year for her to finally speak up. A year for her father to recover. Both of them were broken. In many ways.

Physically and mentally.

But they picked themselves up even at the death of their mother.

Her smile that radiated like the sun as her father calls it, gone. They both sorrowed at the thought but they knew they had to move on.

She closed her eyes and as soon as she opened it, a bright light and a ceiling was the first thing she saw. She immediately stood upright and looked around. She clenched her fists and grinded her teeth.

"Seems like you're awake." Theodore then suddenly said. "I'll be going now."

"Eh..?" Celaine then remembered something. "Y- you're wound! W- we need to treat it!"

"What wound?" Theodore moved his body around to reassure Celaine. "I'm fine. Get some rest."
