New Server, New Her

They say that life is good, good is life.

For Sia, who was overlooking the newbie village, the saying was hold true.

'It felt like, I was back on a...what do they call that? The ancient times on a rural area.'

Sia inspected her new avatar in fascination.

"So this is... Labyrinth." Murmuring, Sia slowly walked away from the so-called summoning circle.

Sia looked around like a curious child and compared server 2 to server 1 in her memories.

'In Server 1, there are 13 newbie villages, each one with unique NPCs' and specialties. But server 2 has over 25 newbie villages. Si has chosen the Winter Array Village in server 1 and was then promoted to be an Assassin, the village's specialty occupation.'

Sia thought as she walked to the NPC in this Summer Shine Village.

"Ah, hello. I'm adventurer Sia, can I ask where the mission hall is in this village?" Sia politely asked.

Because of the game's realistic visuals, Sia can't help but treat the NPC like a real human.

The man, who was over 2ft tall and with a vicious scar on his face, smiled at her polite words.

[Warrior Healer 'Daine' has good impression of you.]

'Huh? I just asked politely?' Sia blinked in surprise upon hearing the game's notification in her ears.

"This is the first time some new face ever asked me. Hahaha." The 'warrior healer' laughed, his large scar moving along with his laugh.

'Oh, because of the scary impression or something?' Sia covertly looked around and noticed that the other NPCs' were approached by the new players or those who swapped servers, only she was the one who approached Daine.

'Me not being afraid is not the only reason I approached Daine. It's because he's the only one who looks relatively free.'

And Sia would never admit that it's because she doesn't want to go up and fight against the others for the NPC's attention.

In Labyrinth, Non Playable Characters in the newbie village are guides. Since the virtual game changes the geography layout of every villages, it was necessary to ask the NPCs for direction to shorten the time spent in doing it yourself.

Why not just look at the map? Some might ask.

The simple answer is that the only thing that is going to show up in the player's map was the places the player has personally visited.

The other way to open a map was to buy or obtain it from the local store or start/complete quests.

"Uh. No one has ever asked you for a tour, sir?" Server 2 has been up for a whole day straight, and in-game, it was equivalent to a week.

Sia threw away everything in server 1and entered server 2 on it's 2nd day of running.

It is weird that an NPC meant to guide players was not approached first, even if the NPC was a huge guy.

"Hahaha. Yes, indeed. A lot of new adventurers are afraid of me and my face." The man laughed.

"My name is Daine, young adventurer. I'm a Warrior Healer of the Summer Shine Village."

"Hello, Sir Daine." Sia greeted again.

"Since you're a brave young lady, I'll give you a whole tour of the important places here in Summer Shine!" Warrior Healer Daine loudly laughed before dragging Sia around, leaving the newbie plaza.

'Jackpot!' Sia thought as she saw the dark fogged map brighten up as she walked around.

"Here is the Shine Market, a lot of merchants come here to trade herbs and potions."

"This is the Goddess's Aquila's temple, where you can be healed immediately in exchange of some money. You can also bought blessings here."

"Here in this street, is where one of my dear friends reside! She is Potion Maker Master, Duvela. Just say my name and I'm pretty sure she'll give you some discount."

"On the smithy street, I'll recommend you buy your things at Gemi Smithery. My friend, Dwarven blacksmith Guwal, was there."

"And finally, the Adventurer's Building. The registration office, mission hall, appraiser's hall, and the village chief are in there." Daine introduced the largest building in the village.

"Thank you, Sir Daine, for touring me around." Sia gratefully bowed to the warrior healer.

'So this is the benefit of having an NPC to myself! He toured me around and even introduce me to some friends in different shops. I'll even get discounts! In the memories of Si in the server 1 newbie village, all the npc's are busy since the newbies are swarming around. Si asked an NPC and was just pointed out the way, and was even lost a few times to find the Adventurer's Building.'
