Liana knelt before Duke Henry. James stood beside Liana, attempting to calm Duke Henry. Both of them knelt helplessly amidst the shattered glass, a result of the duke's anger.
Liana felt like she had lost everything. She was unable to defend herself against her grandfather's furious outburst. Tears streamed down her face, mingling with the drops of blood from the small cuts on her body. She felt broken.
Meanwhile, Helena watched from the stairs, merely a spectator to her grandfather's anger. A faint smile played on her lips as if to say: 'That's what happens when you mess with me.'
Ethan swallowed hard. He decided to remain a bystander, just like Helena. On one hand, he wanted to help Liana, who appeared pale as a frightened animal waiting to be slaughtered. But on the other hand, Ethan was unsure why Duke Henry was so furious.
"Your Grace, Lady Liana couldn't have done it," James defended Liana.
