Chapter 7: Escaping the Bad End (4)

The gymnasium was in complete darkness.

Prince Liam, who had been silent thus far, pulled Troy by the collar, helping the boy evade an attack by the skin of his teeth.

Seniors who excelled in light magic immediately started a spell. When their sight returned, a number of students couldn't help but curse.

A few of the students were already injured, and what was worse was that the ones who had done so were their classmates, friends whom they trusted.

Prince Liam expression hardened "this didn't happen last time"

He mumbled under his breath, taking a mana sword out of his storage ring he tossed it to the still confused Troy.

Shocked at how the prince had even smuggled a weapon in against the rules, had to swallow his words as he parried another student's sword.

His opponent? The sophomore that had just spewed jackshit about the prince not too long ago.

Prince Liam imbued his hands with mana as he trusted his back to Troy, they were completely surrounded.

Azra wasn't doing well on her side as well.

Stepping back, Azra glared at her friend Lidia. Clutching her side, warm liquid started pouring into her hand.

"What are you doing Lidia? Why are you doing this?"

Stalling for time, Azra tried to contact an instructor she knew. However, her astrowatch refused to turn on, as if someone was jamming their comms.

Left with no choice, Azra decided to pull her trump card, communication magic. As long as she had imbued the receiver with a specific set of spells beforehand, then regardless of distance, she could send a message.

However, growing up in a family that focused more on the vanguard with emphasis on offensive magic, she had little practice.

She would need time, time that looking at the fast approaching Lidia, she doubts she would be granted.

"This is insanity" breathing heavily, a petite blonde haired girl rolled on her side.

Freya exuded her magic once more, her blonde hair had become a tangled mess far from the image of a healer.

Freya was a commoner blessed with a rare support magic and skill; [Tissue Regeneration]

She was baited by the instructor that scouted her, she was told that if she joined the school all she had to do was to lie back and perform a few spells.

"Lie back my ass! Fucking bullshit!" kicking a chair towards her opponent, she winced at the pain as she ran at the sight of him stumbling at his step.

Her mp was draining fast as her mind was split constantly, she would distract her pursuers by leading them to those who are still capable to fight. At the same time focusing on whom to heal next.

Prince Liam, who already knew of an asset she would become in the future, widened his eyes at the level of healing he would receive from her periodically. To think she already had this level of skill in her 1st year.

Her tactics were cowardly but it was effective. However, prince Liam who had observed her for a while now could tell 'she won't survive'. However he didn't have the luxury to save her.

'I can't let Troy die, not after I failed to save his sister' exuding murderous intent, his actions which used to hesitate, grew sharper, he prayed for others to hold on just a bit longer.

But just as his lightspear was about to stab the opponent in the head…

And the Freya who was cornered

To the Azra that had finally casted her communication spell escaped death by a breath.

"Tell me, who gave you the right to touch what's mine?"

[Abuse of Power is activated, all human targets detected, all humans bellow the user's Dukedom class has been inflicted with fear and disturbed mind]

[Amount of targets exceeds skill level, mana consumption is doubled to compensate effect]

Backing away on reflex, Lidia and all the other students that have been relentlessly attacking now stared at the boy.

He looked like a first year student but seeing him in a disciplinary uniform gave the impression he wasn't a student but rather a prison warden.

It didn't make sense, they should only fear the queen mother but why? Why were they trembling?

It's as if the human body they have hosted were no longer a vassal but a prison constantly imbuing fear. They couldn't move.

Vadgai chewing at the mana pills he had in his mouth before hand scanned his eyes at the disheveled Azra.

Although Freya had stretched out her support here and there she couldn't waste mana healing miscellaneous wounds like Azra had now.

Vadgai's pupils constricted at the sight as every part of his body screamed in anger, his consciousness as Jun were the only one keeping him sane enough to activate another skill.

[Cold blooded is activated]

Now devoid of emotion, grey eyes that were now a shade darker met Azra's, tossing her a few pills she managed to get out of her stupor enough to catch it.

However before anyone could process more on what was going on Vadgai had already started to take action. A path that achieves the best outcome while preserving the self best.

Tossing an entire bottle of mana pills to the heavily breathing Freya, Vadgai spoke coldly "unless you want to die pop 10 in, from now on use your magic when I tell you to"

Under the effect of [Abuse of Power] Freya obediently took it. Stuck in place by the skill effect the other students found themselves watching in horror as their opponents had now rushed to Vadgai in a last ditch effort.

Prince Liam who was unaffected moved to assist, but was held back by Troy.

"What are you-?"

"Liam, I don't think it's a fight that we could butt in"

As he finished talking, sounds of cracking bones ensued throughout the entire stadium.

Vadgai was calm, he would evade the magic attacks, with the minimal movement possible and at the same time maximizing his output.

A useful disciplinary weapon he griefed [The baton of Love], was a strong wooden baton that if imbued with mana could even crack a troublemaker's skull in half hehe!

Batting the ones closest to him he would then tase the few that try to catch him by surprise of course using the [Taser of Love].

[Time out of Love] a pocket watch that would halve all combat power both magic and physical attacks in a 20 meter radius.

Although the other side were 30, Vadgai wasn't all too worried. Freya was more intelligent than he had hoped.

She would heal Vadgai when a fatal injury landed on him but at the same time, after just a few times Freya caught what he wanted her to do.

Freya's support skill enabled her to regenerate tissues. However it wasn't foolproof. Unlike other healing skills which automatically restore the body to its rightful state, Freya's skill was more tedious.

To regenerate tissue, there must be a loss of tissue. Now imagine. If you dislocated a shoulder, if one were to heal the surrounding tissue but did nothing to the dislocated bone, would you be able to use your shoulder?

Now in the same concept, instead of joining 2 cracked bones together to heal it, what if you regenerate the surrounding tissue to an abnormal amount instead?

Laughing at her own insanity Freya popped another pill in. 'Were all nobles like this?' was her thought as she Vadgai continued at it.

His opponents slowly turned into beings that looked and at the same time didn't look like humans. Many couldn't move after dislocating every possible joint, others had body parts healed in all sorts of directions, while Lidia who was the last one standing, she who had endured the pain of having her skull constantly cracked and healed again and again finally fell.

[Skills have been deactivated due to lacking mana!]

As if on cue, the oppressive force brought by [abuse of power] was gone.

Feeling a sense of relief the remaining students cheered, however Prince Liam instead prepared his magic.

Vadgai stared at the bodies in front of him as he popped pills in his mouth, adjusting his collar as a familiar holographic window showed in front him.

[Death Flag detected!]

[Death Flag detected!]

[Death Flag detected!]

[Death Flag detected!]

[Death Flag detected!]

Before his sight was totally obscured, Vadgai launched an attack.

And just as his attack hit, Azra screamed in shock while the rest of the students which were cheering had fallen silent.

Horrified at the sight of Lidia's corpse, Azra stare on senseless.

Everyone had witnessed the spoilt and instance son of Duke Tashcun murder a student.

"Vadgailles Tashcun, what is the meaning of this!"

While everyone was relieved to see the instructors along with the student council had finally come, the students had their eyes looked between the furious head instructor then back to the unmoving Vadgai.

But instead of their expectations of him surrendering, Vadgai continued to shoot.

Instead of his mark hitting the target, Vadgai was apprehended, an instructor to each arm and the head instructor just like his position held a gun to his head.

"For the murder of Lidia Ashville, and attempt to murder more as well as the resistance to authorities"

His booming voice echoed throughout the gymnasium and left everyone holding their breath. Azra who had only blankly staring at the corpse of whom she once called a friend.

Indeed she had tried to kill her, but the kind Azra would have never wanted her dead, especially not in this way.

She wanted to apprehend her, question her, why?

But Lidia couldn't answer anymore, no amount of healing magic could save a human from a bullet to the head.

Tears streamed from her face, Azra was a fool. Was a fool to believe Vadgai looked cool when he came to suddenly save them, Azra was a fool.

"I hate you"

And with that tiny whisper, Vadgai whom faltered half a second at the sight activated [Coldblooded]

[Possible ending detected!]

"Student Vadgailles Tashcun you are under arrest!"
