Chapter 2: Death Flag(1)

"They won't let you off, you know"

Jun mumbled before handing his sister a bottle of her favorite alcohol. He wasn't familiar with the drink other than seeing it a couple of times on the TV, he couldn't even read the characters on the label.

"Nice! Oh how I miss you~"

Completely ignoring his words, the alcohol was snatched away from Jun. The 18 year old Jun could only adjust his collar as he sat resisting the twitch of his left eye. Glancing at how his sister had coddled it and babytalked the alcohol, Jun decided to look away.

It wasn't just 10 minutes ago when their father had argued with his sister. And not even 5 minutes have passed when she was crying angry tears with an ice pack on her swollen cheek.

'Insanity must be a coping mechanism for geniuses'

"Oi, who are you avoiding? Brother come, come, come, let me pour you a drink! You know how hard it was to smuggle this in? I traveled all around C country to buy this you know~"

Seeing how his older sister energetically shared about C country's scenery, and ranting on how he should reconnect with his birth country's culture. Jun could only nod mindlessly while accepting the drink. Her words passed from 1 ear to another.

If anything it shouldn't be a year until he could drink according to the laws of his birth country.

Jun shed a tear on the inside watching his sister down a shot, doing the same Jun sighed mentally.

'...Noona, you got the wrong country'

Looking at her speaking enthusiastically with her cheek still swollen and red, Jun smiled weakly, how could he have the heart to tell her. So Jun decided to indulge her instead.

Hours pass by like that, his sister would talk on and on, while Jun would nod and drink whenever he was given a glass. It was 1 of the few memories he liked. That was, until they talked about the game.

Embracing the empty bottle Jun giggled, mumbling how he has 2 sisters in his sight

"You listening? I saaiidd…"

Swaying Jun could hear her hiccups here and there as she fumbled over her words

"A game that fights aliens! Robots! Ships! Space. But there's magic, handsome men and pretty women, planets and solar systems"

Ranting on about her game, Jun who denied being drunk-despite seducing the empty alcohol bottle earlier- was an unfortunate soul that could remember everything even when intoxicated.

A useless innate talent.

Because of that he remembered his sister talking about Galaxica. The background setting for her game.

Empire Year 3049. Galaxica Empire based in Yuta planet of the Maya-1403 galaxy, is an intergalactic collection of aristocracy that serve under the ruling of the Emperor and Commanding General of the strongest Space Magic fleet; Golden Magica.

With under 120 planets and 208 planetoids under their rule, it has the highest population of remaining humans, the stronghold for humanity against the zurge.

Zurge like their name was a collective term for hostile alien lifeforms. Under a caste system, zurge used their numbers rather than strategies to win.

It was also these aliens which caused Humanity to flee their home planet.

Earth Year 2020, aka 'the end of the world' an asteroid which was estimated to be twice as large as the Chicxulub was found plummeting towards Earth's atmosphere.

However what was thought to be an asteroid, was in actuality a carrier. A hollow rock with millions of zurge eggs inside.

Desperate to save their home planet, Humans bombarded it with their best explosives. Causing a shockwave that later gave humanity a chance to survive; Magic.

However the energy mana would only manifest much later, and magic-the utilization of that energy- took even longer.

Upon impact the carrier cracked and the Alien eggs scattered all around the globe.

At first Humans thought they won and the eggs which looked like debrics from the explosion hatched. Human kind were forced to leave their planet.

The rich and powerful boarded spaceships fleeing to space. Which later bore fruit to the Galaxica.

The countless humans who couldn't afford a ticket, the sick, poor and powerless were left behind.

They defended Earth for 10 years.

Unfortunately, they lost. By Earth Year 2030 the Earth which was filled with natural resources became the main breeding ground and stronghold of the Zurge.

Humanity could not forgive the Zurge.

Survive, eradicate the Zurge, and reclaim Earth. That has always been the ultimate goal of Humanity. And to achieve that goal an academy was built in the center of the Galaxica Empire. Paglaum Academy, which was more of a military training camp, trained students with elite potential.

Paglaum Academy was the main setting of the game, with most of its events happening there.

"Oi, are you listening!?"

Snapping him out of his trance, Jun massaged his throbbing forehead

"Yes, yes, what do you want?"

"Hehe, since your sister's in a good mood I'll let you name a character!"

Exclaiming, she waved around her finger. Implying he could only name 1.

"The one with the biggest ti- Ah ow!"

Rubbing his forehead again, feeling wronged, Jun glared at his sister.

'How is her flick so fucking powerful? It doesn't even sense'

He grumbled with a frown

"I changed my mind. You can only name a villain"

'Isn't this a bit too fast of a switch up…'

Still rubbing his aching forehead, he almost spoke his mind

"I'll make him handsome but other than that, he's a human scum with a horrible personality~"

Jun who was expecting to name a beautiful female character like T*fa L*ckh*rt, sneered.

Clicking his tounge,

"If he's going to be trash? Why give him a good name? Eh, just let me name him like a typo~"

He reasoned annoyed, his face was hot from the alcohol and his forehead still hurts. So he grumbled jokingly out of spite thinking his sister would once again disregard his words, but instead of a flick on the forehead.

"BRO YOU GENIUS SON OF A GUN!"

He got complimented instead. After a quick brainstorming session, Jun decided on a name.

Vadgailles Tashcun or most commonly known by the fandom to be Vadgai Tash.

...

"...If I knew this would happen, I should have gone with Alexandre…"

Remembering the memory from long ago, Jun couldn't help but curse

"Fuck! Even Kevin would have been better!"

Such was the only regret of Jun's past life

Sitting on the white sheets, heaving a sigh, Jun had more or less grasped the situation.

After the ordeal with Azra, a teacher found his sorry state and brought him to the infirmary for treatment.

The 2 suns he saw while walking towards the tp point, the transportation gate that teleported him directly inside the infirmary, and the blue light that emitted from the doctor's hand that healed him instantly.

The futuristic architecture that could only be found in sci fi movies. There was no doubt.

'I transmigrated into the game, and worse…'

Hearing a tiny 'beep', Jun turned his head to see the doctor come out of the lab, his hands deep in the pockets of his lab coat.

"Good day, Mr. Tashcun"

'It just had to be this goddamn character!'

The doctor smiled but his eyes didn't. Jun hid a sneer when he saw his hidden contempt.

"The swelling on your face has gone down. Your vitals have stabilized, however I noticed from the scans on your brain waves to be erratic. This is usually due to sudden trauma, so I advise you stay in this room and rest"

'I just died minutes ago and got transmigrated here. Of course there's trauma!'

Jun wanted to shout in complaint, but he kept his mouth. The system wouldn't allow him anyway since it didn't fit the context

He could still remember the slow excruciating process when he died, he could feel goosebumps on the back of his hand as his body remembered how the cold enveloped him as if his soul was forcefully ripped out.

It wasn't a fun experience, that's for sure

'... I don't want to experience that again'

However that was easier said than done, especially for Jun who transmigrated into a character with hundreds of death flags.

'I need time to think of a plan'

Adjusting his collar, Jun, who was about to agree to the offer, froze at the blue holographic-like window in front of him.

[Death Flag has been detected!]
