The Villain Always Dies in the End

Winner of WPC #308 Bronze --- I was a regular guy. I had a regular job. A regular family. And, although I was still a bachelor, I had been in several relationships, although none of them got far enough to lead to marriage. Then, I was stabbed in the back. I didn't even get to see their face before everything blacked out. 'Why was I killed? I just lived a normal life!' Then, I woke up in a baby's body. At the age of 10, when we were finally getting our status windows, I suddenly realized something. When I looked at my twin sister, I almost choked from shock. 'Fuck, don't tell me I got reincarnated into "that" novel!' 'And furthermore, I'm the main villain, the villainous brother!' This is the story of my quest for a lazy life, one where I didn't have to do anything. I just wanted to live a lavish life as the son of the duke, my sister could do whatever she wanted and save the world, and I wouldn't interfere. At least, that was what I thought at first. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Release Rate: Check the schedule Chapter Length: 1000-1500 words per chapter My chapters are edited by myself, so forgive me if I make any mistakes. "Oh, you're the shy-shy girl again."

Hearing this, she nodded and said,

"Let me introduce myself again, my name is Nora."

"So you girls each have a different name, interesting."

Pushing my face up so that it was right in front of hers, I studied her face for a second, making sure to note every single detail that was different about this personalty than the last, not noticing that she was blushing, or the fact that I had pushed her up against the bedpost.

"A-ano..."

"Hmm? Oh, I'm sorry."

Quickly realizing my mistake, I pulled my head back, but, by then, it was already too late, as she had already turned redder than a thai pepper.

"You wanna hear a joke?"

Being the socially awkward guy that I was, I immediately bust out something that I was definitely going to regret later, in the future.

"O-okay..."

But, seeing how I had already started my mistake, I might as well finish it.

"So, one day, a young girl accidentally killed a butterfly in front of her father. Her father, seeing this, said, "Because you killed that butterfly, you can't eat butter for the rest of the month." The young girl, hearing this drooped in sadness, but immediately perked up a little bit on the inside, as she realized something. So, moving to the kitchen, she immediately stepped on a cockroach and killed it. The dad, seeing this, responded with only 2 words, "Nice try," before..."

Smiling at my own ingeniousness at making this joke, I looked over at Nora, only to see that she was frowning.

"I-I don't g-get it..."

Looking down, clearly embarrassed, she continued to ruminate about the contents of my joke.

But, I immediately broke her thought process, as, if she didn't get the joke immediately, then it was obvious that she was too pure to handle the darker meanings in between the lines of such a thing.

"Sigh... Don't worry about the joke..."

Then, we fell into an uncomfortable silence, as we both didn't know what to do next, as we were horrible awkward with each other.

"Uhmmmmmmmmm... What are your hobbies?"

"Writing... Reading... Painting..."

Listing each of them like they were a pain to get out, she then took furtive glances at my face, as she looked at my nervously, thinking that I wouldn't notice.

"Oh, have you read..."

Confident in my knowledge of novels, I started a conversation with her about one of my favorite books.

And, who knew? Becoming friends with another reader with the same passions as you, well, that was like the easiest thing in the world.

But damn... she was a chatterbox once her mouth fully opened, and she continued our conversation for a straight 4 hours...

...

'How do I keep ending up in these types of situations...?'

Looking up at the bright moon through the large windows that covered the entirety of one wall of the room, I could only sigh regretfully as I watched Nora scurrying around me like a rat, studying me in the full glory of my girl form.

I mean, why did I even show her this in the first place?

I should have already learned my lesson after Char and Gwen studied me for all those sleepless nights, turning me into a living zombie.

And now, Nora was doing the same thing, as she literally took saliva and skin samples from me!

Well, in my defense, how would I have known that she was a mad scientist when it came to abnormalities in this world?

Like, it was literally only ten minutes ago that I learned that she was given a rarity from the deepest parts of the continent every month to study, all of this funded by the royal family at that!

She was the definition of a genius when it came to this stuff, and she had actually made 10 different cures to poisons thought incurable before, from the materials she had received.

Honestly, right now, I was just amazed at the fact that the Endendyk Family kept spitting out geniuses... well, only in their women unfortunately.

Listening to Nora's stories about her brother, I could only cringe every five seconds due to how dumb that dude had been.

Let's just say that he actually deserved to die, as he was going to walk off a cliff out of his own volition due to the whims of a girl sometime in the future if it weren't for the fact that his brain exploded.

That dumbass was a major simp and pervert... well, let's just leave it at that.

Anyways, back to my thoughts, I continued to analyze this peculiarity, Nora, that was in front of me.

Apparently, before her awakening, she had been a normal person, just like you or me.

But, her skill had split her personality up into five different parts, eventually leading to what she was today.

Of course, the skill didn't split her personality into five different pieces just to spite her, it came with a major benefit.

And that was, well, this was all from speculation, but after seeing Natalie, and now Nora, I knew.

Each personality definitely had a very strong affinity for a different weapon and fighting style, and if she could learn to switch between personalities in the midst of battle...

It would be a beautiful massacre.

So, here were my notes on the personalities and corresponding powers that I knew she had, as of this moment:

??? - Promiscuous - ???

Nora - Shy, Mad Scientist - ??? (Possibly magic, but could be something else.)

Natalie - Bitchy - Hand to Hand combat

??? - ??? - ???

??? - ??? - ???

Yeah... there wasn't that much information.

But, organizing it like this made it so that I could see everything from a completely different perspective.

In my mind, the chess pieces were already shifting according to the amount of new information I learned every moment from Nora.

If only I could meet her other personalities...

"Thump!"

Well, that would have been what I would have heard, if it hadn't been for my exquisite reflexes, catching the falling girl before she hit the ground.

'I guess she overworked this personality so she's now switching... I wonder how they initiate the switches? And how do they decide who gets to go up next?'

Well, I had to push all of these question to the back of my mind for the moment.

After all, it seemed like a familiar personality had shown up.

A troublesome one at that.

"Ara ara~ Is that my beloved brother that I see?"

'Fuck.'

Thanks for reading!
