Stats (P4)

"But it seems I am below their average numbers in all but one of them, with 0.9 Intellect and 0.1 Physical Defense, but my Physical Offense is 1.2, so that's good, right?"

'S**t…he really could kick my ass if the Phy-Off is so much higher than mine…f**king military injuries, f**king bulls**t motorcycle accident, f**king being fat, damn it if I had just taken better care of myself…'

With that nagging thought shuffling in the back of my mind, my eyes drifted back toward the TV, where I saw the subsequent few commands that allowed you to obtain detailed descriptions of all the different statistics listed on the Status.

Ignoring the increasing heartburn and mental anguish threatening to make me freak out, I delved deeper into the individual stats.

[Particle Grade: This Statistic represents your Tier and is a classification of power. The Particle Grade also represents the highest form of Energy Particle your Body can process and utilize.]

[Many Races use this statistic as a show of power.]

[In order, the Particle rankings are as follows: None, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Zeta, Theta, Sigma, and Omega. Omega is the highest form of Energy particle known to exist presently.]

Reading through the detailed descriptions, I skipped over Race, Race Rank, and Talent since I already understood what they represented and went straight to Talent Potential to clarify my fears.

[Talent Potential Grade: This statistic represents the peak of Growth your Talent can reach. While there are cases of a Talent Potential Grade evolving, it is generally and widely accepted as a fixed Statistic.]

Reading that bit of info, I felt my heart drop to my toes and a lump form in my throat.

'Beta…' the word continuously echoed in my head, but just as quickly as it started to set in, my brain latched on to the part about cases of Potential Grade evolution, and I could see the light at the end of the tunnel.

'I won't live a life of mediocrity. I can't even count the number of novel series where the MC (Main Character) gets dealt a s**tty talent and finds a way to become OP (Overpowered); regardless, I shall make that a reality.' With renewed vigor, I continued through the descriptions.

[Level: This statistic shows where you stand in conjunction with your Particle Grade. Think of this statistic as your progress through the Particle Grade Rankings.]

'Well, that's f**king vague. Is there a Cap or limit to how high the level can go? How many levels does it take to increase your Particle Grade? See, this is why all systems need an AI to navigate its convoluted bulls**t.'

[Level Progress: This statistic represents how close or far you are from increasing your level.]

'It's experience or EXP, got it."

[Talent Growth Rate: This statistic represents your progress in increasing the Rank of your Talent.]

'Talent EXP noted.'

[*** Particle Count: The Asterisk will change depending on what type of Particle your body has absorbed; this statistic gives a numerical value to the Particle Density stored in your body.]

'And that's my MP or Mana Points. Now onto the important s**t.'

[Physical Offense: This statistic gives a numerical value encompassing everything your body can do physically, from physical strength to flexibility]

'Well…I guess that's to be expected; still, it seems kind of lazy if you ask me, but whatever, I guess it's a uniform way to track and categorize all things physical.'

[Physical Defense: This statistic gives a numerical value encompassing your Defensive capabilities; it represents the thickness of your skin, the toughness of your bones, and how resilient you are to physical damage.]

'Yeah…ok, I am honestly getting annoyed by how vague these descriptions are; if I punch someone, it SHOULD hurt them so long as my Psy-Off is high enough, but there is no way of knowing how high a person's Defense is.'

[Intellect: This statistic represents your thought processing speed, multitasking abilities, intelligence, and all things dealing with your mental capacity and capabilities]

After reading the description for Intellect, I quickly skimmed through the Meta Physical stats and nodded in understanding.

'The Meta Physical stats are essentially the same thing as physical; only they represent my talent's strength and defensive abilities and how I fare against other talents.

'And last but not least is Stat points; however, the description didn't tell me how to earn them, only that they can be used to increase any of the stats apart from Level, Level Progress, and Talent Growth, meaning I have five sources to burn points on.'

'Setting aside having an RPG or MMO Style build that I should stick to, I first need to figure out how to earn Stat points; however, I have a feeling it will be as easy as leveling up.' Tapping my chin with the index finger of my left hand, I mused.

"Sigh, the only question is how many stat points I'll receive upon leveling up."

"What was that Taylor? Speak up if you are going to talk to me." My father retorted, causing me to turn and give him a strange look.

'S**t, guess I was thinking aloud again.' But as the words rattled around my internal voice, my face contorted into a strange expression as I witnessed my father batting at the air like a cat, no doubt trying to hit or touch his panel.

"Dad, just think the phrase, Arkadia close Panel, and it will disappear," I stated sarcastically and pointed at the words on the TV, giving instructions on what to do.

"Oh…" was all he said in reply.

Buzz, buzz, buzz

Unfortunately, as luck would have it, before I could tease him about what I had just witnessed, my cell phone vibrated, causing me to nearly rip it from my pocket and hurl it across the room.

The reason was easy to figure out; my Cptn America-looking little brother was undoubtedly calling me to boast about his "Superior Status."

"What's wrong?" Noticing my physical reaction and how I was glaring at the right pocket of my joggers, my father spoke up, only to get shushed by me.
