The Stronger One

Annalise couldn't reject his proposal this time almost immediately even though she wasn't really planning on accepting it. She just got slightly lost when he mentioned about the upcoming battles that she was supposed to face.

This wasn't the first time she had heard something like this. There had been times and certain people in the past who had said the same thing as casually as if it was already set in stars.

"Why do you think I'll be facing any sort of battle?" She couldn't help herself from asking as she watched him closely, still trying to assess his expressions despite failing in them continuously from the very beginning.

Esme watched her return and the look in his eyes almost made it appear like he was impressed with her question but not in a good way, almost like he couldn't believe she would ask such a stupid question.
