"What about Gavin? Was he a vampire too?"

Becca glanced at Gavin before looking over Ella. Her expression was hard to read. 

"He was not," she uttered.

Gavin looked over at Ella. He hesitated as he also glanced over Becca. However, he took a deep breath and said, "Aunt Becca promised me that I will be one of them when the right time comes."

Ella was worried, but then she thought, maybe it was a better choice for Gavin than being dead. However, if she had to talk for herself, she would rather die as an average human than be a vampire and hurt others. 

In between the tough family conversation, Maddie let out a chuckle making the conversation awkward. Becca looked at Maddie meaningfully as if giving her a warning.
