The Vampire and the Wraith

"This is my place, it belongs to the dead, and the dead belong to me "screamed the Wraith King.

The skeleton soldiers all took a step forward, under their helms where once there were eyes, empty sockets with a red flickering flame, stared forth from the skeletons, at the companions who stood before them .

Zack bit his finger, and rubbed the blood on the breast plate of his armor, and dropped some blood on his sword, before his finger healed.

The armor and the sword responded to his blood,the armor activated, and a soft blood red glow came from the armor,the sword glowed blood red ,the king's sword is the sword that inspired the katana ,the sword of the Samurai Warriors of Japan ,the katana was made in the same shape and style, of the sword of the vampire king .

The sword was many thousands of years old, as was his armor, the king's items were powerful magical items ,that were made by the old gods, especially for the king of vampires.

The coldness of death could be felt coming off the skeleton soldiers ,as they advanced and attacked the group.

Dain blocked a spear that way thrust at his chest ,and raising his free hand and cast a bolt of lightning at the head of the soldier ,as the lightning struck the head of the skeleton soldier ,it disintegrated only to be replaced a few moments later by another soldier ,that appeared called forth by the wraith king.

Zack ran forward and struck out with his sword ,the sword had clashed with the sword of the wraith king ,and sparks of energy could be seen as the two weapons clashed.

The force of Zack's attack had pushed the wraith back a few steps .

The oracle swung her sword at the head of the soldier, who was trying to spear her through her side ,she had stepped back allowing the spear to pass were she had been only a second before, and hit out at the soldier ,the head of the soldier rolled across the floor ,and the skeleton disintegrated ,only to be replaced by a new skeleton soldier.

" This is frustrating , somehow we need to stop the wraith from summoning soldiers " said Ninx.

Ninx cast a ball of blue magic energy at the wraith, it was enough to distract it for a moment, and that allowed Zack to strike at the wraith , the king's sword sliced off the arm of the wraith.

The wraith laughed ,as its arm disappeared from the ground and reattached itself, the wraith king was unharmed .

" The head must be destroyed or the wraith will keep regenerating " yelled Dain .

From Zack's back large black bat wings appeared , he leapt into the air and swung his sword at the head of the wraith .

The wraith managed to block the attack , and Ninx threw another ball of energy at the wraith this time the enemy struck the wraith in the face , the wraith screamed, a chilling ear piercing sound of rage and anguish .

The wraith shot a green spectral bolt of energy at Ninx .

Ninx dropped to the floor and rolled out of the way, the attack from the wraith missed ,Ninx cast another energy ball at the wraith , and Dain seeing that it was distracting the wraith, threw a ball of energy at the back of the wraith, Zack went in for the attack once again, he swung his sword down at the head of the wraith, who narrowly avoided the attack from Zack ,but was struck by the two balls of magical energy , the wraith had to step back and was distracted ,to buisy defending itself to summon more soldiers .

The oracle dispatched another of the skeleton soldiers, and now ther were only two left .

" Don't let the wraith touch you or it will feed on your soul " yelled the Oracle.

" Keep the wraith distracted , don't let up " said Dain ,throwing another ball of powerful energy at the wraith.

The wraith moved quickly and appeared behind Dain, it slashed at Dain with incredible speed and force, and struck him hard across his back, Dain was sent flying and he hit the ground hard, the wind was knocked from his body and he was struggling to breathe, Dain felt that some of his energy had been drained from his body.

Zack threw a condensed blood ball ,filled with vampiric magic at the Wraith king ,hitting the wraith in the middle of it's chest.

At the same time Ninx shot the wraith in the face with a beam of energy , and the oracle sliced the wraith across its legs.

The wraith screeched, and fell back a few steps.

From the twisted face of the wraith, a black substance shot towards the companions ,it grabbed hold of all of them, and began to slowly taste the energy and the souls, of Zack and his companions.

"Fight it don't give in to it "shouted Zack.

Zack's armor was glowing blood red, power was radiating around him ,the sword was blazing with blood red flames that covered the blade, the armor and sword were at half their strength, the sword and armor could sense the ring was near, they longed to be reunited and combine all their powers together with the king .

Zack could feel the power and he could hear the ring calling him , the ring held a small part of his soul, Zack would not be denied what was his, every time the tendrils of black goo that was shot forth from the wraith, hit his sword or armor the tendrils would be destroyed instantly .

" No don't fight it Zack let it taste your soul, let the wraith know you are the king, we can't beat it not here, it's powered by the tower , the wraith said it earlier, it has tasted your soul that is in the ring, it knows who is the rightful owner of the ring, the vampire king. Zack your soul is unique ,it can not be destroyed by something like a wraith ,you must trust me, it's the only way said Valora the oracle of Rinaway.

Zack listened to the words of the oracle, and did as she advised, he stopped fighting and he deactivated his armor and sword, sheathing his sword he readied himself taking a deep breath, Zack allowed the black tendrils of goo to touch him, slowly the tendrils wrapped around his body, one touched his face and he suddenly realized that he was outside of his body.

The wraith was right in front of Zack, and reached out and touched his head, not his physical body but his sprit body.

The wraith's very appearance started to change, it seemed more solid than before and the wraith's face was more defined .

"I have tasted your soul and I recognize that you are the true owner of the ring you are the true king of vampires .

I will return the ring to you vampire king, and then I will have fulfilled my promise to the tower, and this curse that I have endured for thousands of years, will finally be lifted from me ,and I will be able to finally enter the spirit realm, and move on"said the wraith king.

Why are you not filled with rage towards me, as you were only moments ago " said Zack.

" That is because the tower is holding back,all the evil and malicious intentions of the curse that made me a wraith , you have passed my test, you are the king ,and when I give you the ring I will be released the curse that was placed on me,it will be removed and I thank you for that vampire king , now return to your body "said the wraith king.

Zack returned to his body ,the moment the black tendrils were withdrawn from him and his companions , the ring rested on the dais in front of Zack, and the wraith stepped to the side, allowing Zack to take the ring from its resting place .

Zack reached out and grabbed the ring, he placed it on his index finger of his right hand ,and the ring glowed blood red ,and so did his sword and his armor ,the blood red glow pulsed for a few moments, and then returned to normal .

The wraith king smiled ,and turned a golden light ,all feeling of Evil and foulness ,that was in the air had now gone ,the wraith pulsed brightly then suddenly disappeared .

The tower seemed to shift ,and suddenly the group found themselves outside the tower, standing at the base of the tower looking at the doors, where they had first entered the tower .

The magician that had brought them to the tower had returned ,and the magician once more transported the companions, to the palace of the queen of the Fairy realm .

Zack and his companions were given food and shelter, they would rest for a couple of days ,before their audience with the queen ,and then they will would returned to the dark city.

Zack was wondering how Louise was, he could not wait to see her again.
