On the Wedding day (2)

Ch-21

Time passed along with her thoughts. There were only one and a half hours for the banquet. In half an hour her maids would come and start dressing her up for the banquet all over again. Yet, her husband hasn't arrived.

Feeling disappointed, she went out and asked the servants to know where her husband was.

"My Lady, The Vampire King hasn't stayed back after the wedding," the servants said.

Just then Eudora who came to check on her newlywed daughter-in-law was surprised to see her standing. According to her son's behavior, his wife wouldn't have time to come out of the chambers. This was something surprising for her.

"Where is Zaros?" Eudora asked.

"Mother, I ask the same. He hasn't arrived. The food turned cold already. I am waiting for him," Adira said worriedly.

Eudora's eyes narrowed in dissatisfaction with her son. She hid it well and looked at her daughter-in-law.

"You have your food. Maids will come and get you ready. Don't wait for him. Those old men didn't even let him go till now. Don't worry about him," Eudora said as she tried to shift the blame towards the Elders.

Adira just smiled at her and walked inside. Her head was bowed. The hunger she felt earlier was died already. She doesn't want to eat anymore. But her mother-in-law asked her to eat. Since she said it, she would follow it.

Even though Adira was not as smart as Eudora or others she was sensible enough to understand what has happened. When he left right after the wedding, how could he be bothered by those Elders? She could say her mother-in-law was lying. If she wasn't lying, then why would she come here asking where was her son?

Looks like these were not just pre-wedding jitters, it's something else. Tears threatened to fall from her eyes. She sat on the bed thinking about how she was all left alone. She doesn't know why but she didn't like this at the moment.

She thought everything would be sorted out after marriage, as he was kind of silent after visiting the High Priestess. But… now… it looks different.

The more she thought about it, the sadder she felt. She doesn't know what's happening with her husband or with her married life. Tears fell out of her eyes at the thought of him leaving her alone wanted. She knew her brother was with her sister-in-law, she expected her husband to be with her the least. But it didn't happen.

"My Lady," she heard maids' voices. Wiping her eyes, she turned around and gave them a smile.

She got down from the bed and stood in front of the mirror so that they could help her undress and get into a new one. They helped her get out of the gown and left her in her chemise.

"Please have your food first, My Lady. Lady Eudora asked us to see you eat before getting dressed as the night would be pretty tiring," the maid Chelsea said.

She sat down and decided to eat not to hurt her tummy. She shouldn't embarrass herself by fainting after not eating for a whole day. After having a few bites, she saw the maids were leaving the room one by one. Roaming her eyes towards the entrance, she saw her husband was entering in an irritated mood.

Adira sat down and started eating food. Chelsea was making the other maids set the other things for her. They took out the jewelry, dress, makeup kit, and other things that were needed for her. Adira continued to eat. After eating a few bites, she noticed that maids were leaving one by one from the chambers. Furrowing her brows she saw that even others were doing the same.

Moving her head, she turned her head to see her husband coming inside tiredly. She was excited to see him. Putting her cutlery down, she ran to him and was about to hug him. But he just brushed her away and walked ahead.

" Since, you are eating like a pig by yourself. Why bother to send my mother to me asking me to accompany you? Are you that needy for my attention? I don't see why they need me to marry you. You are not even sexy or thin as my fiance in Vampira. Yet I am forced to marry you. I don't have a face on how to show you to others. They would laugh at me," he said not caring about her feelings.

Adira didn't expect these would be the first words from her husband. His words were harsh, cruel, and ruthless for her. Every word he spoke to her stabbed her like a sharp knife in her chest.

Her eyes widened as she listened to him. There was no remorse in his voice or no guilt on his face.

Now she realized, what was happening all these days. He was avoiding her because he felt she was unsightly and unsuitable for him. Tears threatened to fall from her eyes. She doesn't want to cry but she couldn't control it.

As her silvery tears escaped from her beautiful lotus-petal-shaped eyes, even the moon goddess felt unsightly as the moon hid behind the dark clouds to escape seeing the unsightly things.

Even her wolf was crying hearing her mate's words.

[So these were the pre-wedding jitters you spoke about, Right, Liena?] Adira pointed out.

That hit harder to her wolf which made her cry more for no reason. Her heart was heavily bleeding making her feel sadder and sadder with his words and his stares which stared back at her and were looking back with disgusted at her.

She could feel the cracks appearing in her heart as he continued to stare at her.

"Zaros…" she wanted to ask if he was real Zaros or did someone possessed him. But before she could speak further he approached her at a vampire speed clutching her neck as he pressed her back to the table making her back hurt in pain.
