First day

Maximus and Lenora tried to skip the first day but both Serene and Eudora ganged up against them making them lose the battle of words against them.

Adira understood why both Serene and Eudora were the most powerful women in the two races.

She returned to her chambers after breakfast. While Zaros and Maximus went to discuss something which was new to her.

Adira paced in her chambers which she shares with Zaros restlessly. She knew she cannot stop the first day between her brother and her sister-in-law anymore.

The main question in her mind right now was about her.

What if she will have to consummate the marriage with Zaros too?

They didn't mention it because they forgot about it.

She wasn't ready to consummate their marriage right now.

The more she thought about it, the more anxiously she got. Adira felt restless at this topic. She needs to get a real and confirm answer about this.

The stress of thinking about this topic was something she couldn't handle anymore. Her husband was not at all heeding any care to this topic. She has to take care of the things in her hands. Only then she will have clarity. But when did she even think of relying on him? She shall think of things on her own.

"Chelsea," she called her handmaiden.

"My Lady," Chelsea responded as she curtsied herself in front of her lady.

"Check if Lady Serene is free or not," Adira ordered.

Chelsea nodded and went to check if Lady Serene was free or not.

After a few minutes, Chelsea returned with her response.

"Is she free?" Adira asked.

"Lady Serene is busy with some preparations. And now is having a chat with Lady Valorine. She informed me that she will be free during brunch time. You can meet her at that time," Chelsea replied to her.

"Good," Adira nodded at her and dismissed her before she let herself get overpowered by her overthinking thoughts.

---

After some time...

Adira couldn't wait till the brunch. So she decided to make get things straight with her mother now. She wants to know if she will have her first day with Zaros or not.

It's not that she was eager for that... it's just that she was not ready for it yet. Consummating the marriage right now would be a bad choice for her. She doesn't want it at least now. Adira didn't know if Zaros was changed for good or not. She wants to observe him for a while more. Also, their relationship was just in a trial period again.

If it doesn't go well, she has to make sure that... Zaros doesn't cause trouble to her and her race. Without making things clear, consummating a marriage was something bad for both the races.

Getting up from her seat, she walked towards her mother's chambers with Chelsea in tow.

The moment she entered the chambers, she noticed her mother was getting ready like she was going to attend the courtroom.

Her brother was handling court things all alone from the day he got married. It's the first time for Adira to see her mother donning herself to attend the courtroom after their marriage.

"Mother, are you attending the court today?" Adira asked.

"Yes," Serene replied.

"Why?" Adira questioned. Did something serious arouse?

She doesn't what's happening these days. Every day is a new day with new trouble. Adira hoped that these would die down soon.

"Lenora would be the first subject in the court proceedings today. All the Vampires and Werewolves would be attending. If I don't attend, It won't be good," Serene said.

Adira was surprised to hear this. She doesn't why her sister-in-law was being dragged into this mess.

"Why?" she asked the question unconsciously.

"Because your sister-in-law is being blamed unnecessarily for the crimes she didn't commit. She is suffering in the hands of your brother just like how you suffered in the hands of her brother. So, your brother grew some brains today, and decided to put an end to those stupid things," Serene said with a proud smile.

"I am glad he is doing the right thing," Serene said as she checked the pin in her hair.

"Rumours about her involvement in my suffering and her brother's falling sick?" Adira asked as if she wants to confirm it.

"Yes," Serene replied.

She checked herself in the mirror one last time before turning her head towards her daughter who was standing like an idiot.

"Why are standing like an idiot there? And what's with your stupid questions?" Serene asked her.

"Nothing," Adira replied feeling something in her heart.

She felt like something will happen in the courtroom today. Maybe she needs to attend the court meeting today.

"I want to attend too," Adira asked.

"Then get ready. Why do you need my permission?" Serene said as she rolled her eyes.

Adira nodded and was about to leave.

"Between what is that you wanted to ask?" Serene asked as she neatened the non-existent creases on her dress.

"I will ask after the court session," Adira said.

Serene nodded.

Adira nodded her head and took her to leave.

She wondered what will happen at today's court session.

Was that the reason why her husband went missing right after breakfast?

It could be.

She wondered why he had not informed her. If he wants to start afresh, he needs to say everything to her. Maybe she needs to have a conversation with him.

With these thoughts, she returned to her chambers. She asked Chelsea to dress her up for the court sessions.

Chelsea did as fast as she can. And the time was running out before she could attend the courtroom.

She attended the courtroom at the nick of the time. But found out that her brother was yet to arrive. Just then she saw her brother and sister-in-law were attending the courtroom hand-in-hand peacefully with a smile on their faces. They looked like a picture-perfect couple that will receive many many envious gazes.
