632. Brooding
"Why didn't you tell me you had more injuries?" she cried as he took his shirt off. "This is even worse than the one on your cheek."
They were back in his bedroom. Jael wanted to wash off the fight before it was time for the last meal. It had seemed as though he wanted her to leave the room, and she had found it a bit odd that she insisted on staying. Thank goodness she did.
"I didn't realize," he lied.
Mauve lifted herself from the bed and rushed to him. "Liar!" she accused.
"It's not bleeding anymore. Besides, you asked if I was hurt anywhere else. This doesn't count since it doesn't hurt."
Mauve didn't think; she smacked his wound. It wasn't bleeding, but she was sure it hurt. Jael didn't flinch from pain but from surprise. "Didn't that hurt?" she asked stubbornly.
Jael blinked as he stared down at her. "Not really."
"But it's not a no," she replied.
"It's not," he admitted.
"Then you should have told me," she replied.
