369. Why Would He Lie?
Mauve sat across from her father in the same position as the last time they were in the drawing room. The fireplace had some burnt wood in it.
It was hard to tell if it was from last night or this morning but she figured if it was last night, the servants would have cleaned it up already.
"Mauve," he called, pulling her attention from the fireplace.
She lifted her head to look at him. "Yes,' she responded.
"How are you finding the palace?"
"Quite well," she smiled.
"And the horse training?"
"A lot harder than I thought it would be. Sir Galath says I am making considerable progress but it doesn't seem that way to me," she bent her head as she spoke.
"Take as long as you need to learn," he replied.
Mauve wondered if that meant she could stay as long as she needed to which was a bit ironic as they couldn't wait to get rid of her last time.
