(This book is also a bit old, as I was at the beginning of my writing journey so forgive me for any mistakes. Thank you.)
Sky's POV
I opened my eyes, immediately realising that there wasn't any school. I smiled to myself before I closed my eyes again and fell asleep again. A few hours later, I woke back up to see that I slept way longer than I thought I would. I felt like I have just woken up in a freezer as my room was pretty damn cold for some weird reason, I looked over to the window to see that it was wide open when it should have been closed.
I got out of my comfortable, warm bed as I walked over to it and pulled the window back down, closing it to let the nice warm air back in. Did someone snoop into my apartment? Ugh. Stop worrying about shit, Sky. My stomach growled almost like an angry lion, so it was time to get dressed and go out for a little bit to have some fresh air before I do a shift at the bar. I wasn't that type of woman who loves to get drunk, I find it disgusting. But hey, I have to get paid from somewhere so my rent can stay on track.
I walked into my small bathroom and checked myself in the mirror. I wish I had enough money to sort out my horrible looking hair. The light blue dye was starting to fade...
I turned on the sink tap and placed my hands under it, leaning down to splash the water onto my face to wake myself up as I was pretty much a deep sleeper. After my small wash, I went back into my bedroom which was quite small as there wasn't any room for a large bed so it was a single, anyway, I did my normal things by getting dressed into my work uniform which was just a plain black short sleeved t-shirt and a brown skirt which I absolutely hated. I complained to about it to the manager, who told me to deal with it otherwise he would fire me and I would have nowhere else to go. So, that was what I did. I just dealt with it.
I looked at my watch and noticed that I had about twenty minutes to get there. I took a small deep breath before I turned off the lights and left my apartment. I then suddenly had a feeling that I was being watched. I shook the feeling off as I walked out of the apartment building. Let's skip the old boring bits out, shall we?
A few minutes of walking later, I arrived at the bar. I turned into the small alleyway to go into the back room so I could get myself even more ready for my shift. "Okay, Sky...all you have to do is to ignore the drunks and just wipe the tables. Don't let anyone piss you off, just go and do what they tell you to do..." I said to myself, before I took another deep breath and walked over to the door which led to the bar. I then opened the door and walked inside.
"Why were you giving yourself a pep talk, Skylar? You have done this many of times. Now, go and clean the tables." my manager called Cole, said. "Yes, of course." I told him before he handed me the green cloth which was stinking of disinfectant.
I then walked around the bar and went over to the tables, beginning to clean them until I saw the same two women that was from my old school. Can't this shift get any worse? Just ignore them, Sky! How many times do I have to tell myself this?
I moved over to the next table, before I watched one of the women walk up to the bar. Why was I even LOOKING at her? I wasn't interested in her at all!
"Can I get that lovely lady a drink?" I heard the woman ask my manager. "No, you cannot. She isn't a drinker."
"How do you know that?"
"Ask her yourself, I don't care." Cole told her which made my heart skip a beat as the woman turned her attention to me and offered me, "Do you want a drink, love? I can pay for it."
I decided to not answer, so I continued to clean the tables. "See? Now, walk over back to your girlfriend and..."
Suddenly, the woman raised her hand and slapped Cole across the face, hard enough to make him fall sideways. My eyes then immediately widened in shock as everyone in the building became silent. "How fucking dare you speak about her like that." she hissed at him before she turned her head to look at me for a moment. Her eyes flashed a dark red as her eyes began to look over my shaking body.
I then placed down the cloth and ran out of the bar, through to the back room and straight back out into the open. I didn't know where I was going. I just kept on running.
Then, I heard a voice in my head...
"We will find you again, love. And we will keep you safe and sound. Forever."
My vision then turned black.
