Inside the lobby of the Winding Trail Inn, Thane’s eyes darted at every sound. He kept his eyes on the main hallway leading to the rooms, expecting the stranger in black from earlier to come walking out any moment.
Thane was going to have a conversation with him, it was just a matter of when.
Eva snapped her fingers and called out to him. “Hello? Thane?”
Thane hadn’t realized he’d stopped walking ten feet from the front desk. He walked the rest of the distance to Eva while continuing to look at everything but her.
“Are you looking for someone?” she asked. “I thought you said you haven’t been here.” She set her handbag down on the front desk and rang the bell. She took out her wallet and phone.
Thane looked over his shoulder and answered, “I haven’t.”
