Chapter 20: Threats
Logan and Alex pulled up to Elijah’s compound, ready to do the deal. Logan tightened his grip on the wheel as they approached the gathering of older buildings. The road winded and opened up to Elijah with a group of men. Alex peered out the front window, as Logan parked the SUV and turned the key in the ignition to turn it off.
Logan struggled with the seatbelt, nearly tearing it to pieces. He just wanted to get this over and done with. Deals weren’t his favorite, especially of this caliber. He sighed and licked his lips, gathering up all of his strength and energy. He didn’t have much of it left for the day.
As soon as Logan opened his door to climb out, a familiar scent laced the chilled breeze and made him irritated. The mangy werewolf, who had broken the treaty, had been there, and if he hadn’t, he was somewhere close now. Logan licked one of his sharp fangs, and Alex gave him a concerned expression.
“What’s wrong?” Alex whispered towards Logan.
