Lavinia couldn’t turn him away. He had been too confident.

Lavinia gestured with her hand. “If you would follow me, Ardashir, we can abscond to-”
He chuckled. “I know my way to the library by now, Liv.” He clicked his tongue. “I’ve been here enough times to walk it blind.”
Lavinia shot a glance at Casey. The girl was wringing her hands and had a fear within her that danced across her features. She beckoned Casey to follow and set out for the library, so safe mere moments ago.
When Lavinia entered the library, Ardashir was already seated in a large backed chair, his feet propped on a foot cushion.
“Do you expect a drink?” Lavinia said flatly as she sat in the chair opposite him.
