“Mother is God in the eyes of a child.” The large door opens, and Bryant is on the other side.
“Welcome back Kei.” He moves aside and allows her to walk past him, before shutting the door. “Looks like you’ve found another lost sheep. What is that, the third in six weeks? Busybody.”
Kei holds the baby in her arms, it wrapped up like a burrito. She holds out a finger and he tightly squeezes it as he coos and gurgles happily. Kei smiles warmly at him. “You’re such a cutie.” He pulls her finger to his mouth and instinctively clamps down, but as he has no teeth nor fangs yet, it’s nothing but tickle for Kei. This doesn’t stop him from suckling anyway. “Aww, hungry?”
“I can take him Kei.” A sweet sounding young woman approaches her, wearing a simple dress and an apron. “I’ve already put the other kids to bed, so I can get him checked out and fed.”
“Ok, that’d be great Tania, thank you.” She hands him over gently. “His name is Owen.”
