Then he added "hmmm?" For a moment, all the protesting noise outside faded away, and silence came to Riona's ears. "So what do I have here?" Only the man's cold, indifferent voice hit her ear, his frigid breath caressing her skin, while he repeated his words.
Riona's heartbeat increased and the dark clouds in the sky faded away. At a slow pace, faint moonlight crept in and passed through the window in front of Riona. The light illuminated her Jade eyes and the room around her, and the towering figure behind her also became clear.
"I'm sorry..so sorry" Riona was trying to keep calm but nothing could cure her embarrassment, she lowered the cover and slowly showed her face. Her pale white skin reflected the redness of her cheeks, and in return, that man's lips swayed in a wide smile. "There's no point in apologizing."
His emotionless voice whispered, unlike his beautiful face, he was wearing a Mascarade mask. He leaned towards Riona's trembling body. His eyes didn't stop tracking and recognizing every sign of her body language.
He let out a dry chuckle and then approached closer. Riona's eyebrows twitched and she stepped back, but the bed behind her stopped her and restrained her steps. Without risking more, she gathered her courage and avoided the proximity of that man and passed him.
Only a few steps were before she reached the door, until the cruel hand pounced on her wrist and returned her to where she was standing. Riona's eyes widened and she forcibly released her wrist from his grip.
Despite the pain she felt at that moment, she did not back down. "don't touch me!" She shouted at him, the light in her eyes dimmed while her breathing became labored, she brought her hands to her chest and stared at him, her lips were trembling and her heartbeat did not stop pumping strongly in her chest.
The man's ego and pride had been wounded by Riona's words, and his response was swift and brutal. As he raised his hand, claws suddenly erupted from his fingers, transforming him into a fearsome sight. His face twisted into a mask of anger.
Without wasting time, he delivered a hard slap to Riona's face, causing her head to hit the wall and her to fall to the floor unconscious. What happened happened, and the simplest thing that can be said about him is that he was extremely kind and generous to her, because he did not kill her in the blink of an eye…
In the dark atmosphere, the rays of the morning sun penetrate the worn curtains of the round window, and settle on the angelic face that was sleeping deeply, the warmth of the sun's rays tickled the skin. The girl was sensitive until she woke up and hurriedly sat down.
"Ahh...I fell asleep again!" The girl shouted and got up from the bed. The bed under her made some annoying creaks, but she didn't care. She was already accustomed to it. She stepped with her bare feet on the old dark floor, past the nails raised from the wooden surface.
Her soft fingertips opened the rusty closet door and pulled her only dress from inside. She quickly dressed, raised her blonde hair into a ponytail, and left her narrow room.
Riona stepped out of the small, humble house, a wide smile gracing her lips. Despite the poverty-stricken state of the village and the lack of material wealth, Riona radiated positivity. She was known throughout the village for her cheerful disposition and her willingness to help anyone in need.
As she walked down the street, the warm rays of the sun bathed her in a warm, golden light, as if the very heavens were smiling down upon her. She greeted each person she passed with a friendly wave and a cheerful hello, her positive energy seemingly contagious.
As Riona continued her walk through the village, a few children who knew her well spotted her and quickly hurried over to her, their faces lighting up in excitement. They loved spending time with Riona and enjoyed her company immensely.
"Riona!" they called out, waving their arms to get her attention. "Riona, can we play with you?". As Riona turned to the children who approached her, her smile widened even more. "Oh Jack, Leo, and Press!"
The three children grinned up at her, their small faces filled with excitement. "We missed you, Riona," said Jack, the youngest of the three. "Can we play with you today?"
Leo nodded fervently in agreement, his brown curls bouncing with the movement. "Please, Riona, can we? We promise we'll be good!" Press, the oldest of the three, gave her a pleading look with his big, brown eyes "Pretty please, Riona? We really want to play with you!"
Riona looked at the eager, expectant faces of the children in front of her, her heart torn. She knew that they always enjoyed playing with her, but this time she had something important to do and couldn't join them.
With a pang of regret, she said, "I'm so sorry, you three. I really wish I could play with you today, but I have something important that I have to do. "Riona smiled softly and ruffled each of the children's hair affectionately, feeling a pang of guilt for having to disappoint them.
"Don't worry," she assured them. "I promise I'll make it up to you another day and we'll play for twice as long. Okay?" The children looked up at her, their faces slightly downturned with disappointment, but also with the understanding that Riona had something important to do.
"Okay," said Jack, his bottom lip sticking out in a small pout. "But you have to play with us soon, okay?" agreed Press, "You can't go too long without playing with us again!" Riona nodded.
She said her goodbyes to the children, giving them one last smile and wave before she turned to head to the sea. As she walked, she made a conscious decision to stop a good distance away from the shoreline, knowing that getting too close could lead to trouble with the Sirens.
The Sirens were the guardians of the sea, loyal protectors of their queen, and Riona did not want to risk getting on their bad side. As she looked out at the sea, she silently wished that she could explore its depth despite the danger.
The sky was a brilliant blue canvas, unblemished by even a single cloud. The sun shone brightly, casting a warm light over the lands below. Riona looked up at the sky, taking in its vastness and splendor. As she thought about the day ahead, a smile tugged at the corner of her lips.
"I hope everyone has a beautiful day," she said to herself, her voice just barely above a whisper. Riona's thoughts continued to swirl through her mind as she stood by the sea. She knew that the Sirens had a rule that no one could marry them except for vampires from the royal family. As she pondered this, a thought occurred to her.
"It makes sense," she said aloud to herself. "Emperor's wife is a Siren, and the emperor is a vampire. That must be why only members of the royal family can marry Sirens." Suddenly Riona's smile faded And realized something..
"The darkness, a shroud of shadow, Enveloping all in its hold.
In its grasp, the innocent soul, Trembles, frail and cold.
The innocent heart, once so pure, Wrapped in a veil of gloom, Losing its shine, its spark, As darkness slowly entomb."
