Cecilia was expressionless. Despite internally screaming, she remained emotionless. This blank expression made Oscar angry. He was expecting fear and hysterics, but Cecilia just sat there staring at him.
"That's it," Cecilia said, at last, breaking the awkward silence.
"What?" Oscar asked.
"You did all of this. You killed all those people because you were mad that you couldn't own me." Is that what you're saying?" Cecilia questioned. "How can you even dare to be upset? You didn't purchase me. He did. He paid for me fair and square, and you're upset because you couldn't steal from him?"
Cecilia shook her head in disbelief. Instead of feeling fear or even anger, she only felt pity for him. She had anticipated some sordid tale that would make him want to exact revenge. And yet, all that was happening was a man having a meltdown.
