Power was everything.

Once you had power that was it. To Edmund, he wanted it more than anything. No one would respect you if you were just friendly.

He didn't want anyone to like him or love him he just wanted their respect and he would earn it.

He had never been scared of anything. He even stood up to his father when no one could. He never won when it came to his father but that didn't make him a failure.

It was like all he wanted was power so that he could prove his father wrong To tell him that he wasn't good at anything

"You know you didn't have to handle things like that right?", asked Elijah as they went to the study.

"Am sorry brother how did you want to handle things, did you want to offer them coffee and talk through it like you were buddies?", Edmund asked him.

"No there is a more civil way of handling things which by the looks of it ", said Elijah.

"Every day you just prove me wrong ", said Edmund as he chuckled.

"That I am a decent person ?", Elijah asked him.

"No, that you are more stupid than I initially thought. When are you going to learn that no one cares if you are nice?

They will take whatever they want from us if we try to be civil with them. They have power and someone who has power doesn't just ask for things.

To defeat them, you just have to be like them. I am willing to be that person", said Edmund as he stood up and left the room.

A group of witches did not scare him. His father sacred him and if he had dealt with that anything was possible.

He was more powerful than all the witches and people who had been at their homes for the meeting. If he wanted he would snap their necks without them noticing.

They knew that too because there was no way they would agree easily if they didn't fear him. He was Edmund the hybrid. Everyone wanted to be like him.

He had other things that had to be done he wouldn't sit around d with his brother wondering what way they were supposed to act.

That was their homeland whichever way they acted they were allowed to.

"Katelyn ", he shouted his sister's name.

He wanted to have a meeting with all the vampires. They were back in the and they were supposed to rule.

Vampires had been suffering since they had left town and it was finally time for them to be respected once again.

Who was better at that job than him? No one.

"What is it, Edmund ?", she asked him as she came from her room.

"Come on sister, we are going somewhere ", he said as he started walking towards the door.

"You mean you are going somewhere, I won't tag along with you on your errands when all I do is stand there and wait for you to finish what you're doing ", she said as she went back to her room and locked it.

"Elijah", he called out.

"Yes, what is it ?", asked Elijah.

"Come on we need to go somewhere", said Edmund as he went to his brother's office.

"Where?", Elijah asked.

"We need to assemble all vampires and have a meeting. They need a leader like you saw earlier there is no one representing them.

They have been neglected and are killed and they can't say anything about it", said Edmund.

"So when you say they need a leader you mean yourself?", asked Elijah.

"You catch up first, yeah I mean me ", said Edmund as he smirked.

He was obsessed with being at the top. He could not take it that he could be commanded by someone else. It was not in him to take orders from someone else.

Not even his father could command him. He was used to doing things his way. For that to happen he had to be on top.

"Okay ", said Elijah as he stood up.

Edmund had thought that they were going to argue about it for a while. This time around his brother was okay with it.

It wasn't just about them now. The vampires were like their other families and they had no one to protect them. They had been abandoned and made to look like the bad guys for so long.

It was time for them to take their power.

"Do you think that they will be okay with you leading them?", asked Elijah.

"Why wouldn't they be the best option they have ", said Edmund as he laughed.

"You might be the best option that they have but that doesn't mean they will accept it. They may not like you, which is very likely ", said Elijah.

"Well, brother if they don't like me then I make sure they don't have a chance. It's very simple when someone is backed in a corner and their life depends on one thing do you think they would rather die than be saved?

I can offer them protection from anything that might come their way. I am the most powerful vampire no one stands a chance with me because I will crush them.

There are no two sides to this. It's like a community whereby we all care about each other and protect each other.

I just told the committee that there won't be wars or attacking each other. They can't be hunted now.

It's pretty simple am their only option. You are either with me or out and if you are out and anything happens to you that's really up to you.

No one will come to save you or protect you from anything.

You see when you tell someone like that it's so hard for them to think of their ego. At the end of the day, it's about survival.
