"Nia, there you are," a feminine voice calls. Nia and I turn away from our breakfast to the voice. I say breakfast, but it's really dinner. God, it's going to take me weeks to get back to the average human scheduling.
A woman with a large afro and a heart-shaped face walks in, her round eyes brightly outlined with bright pink eyeliner. Nia grins at her and stands as she comes over to hug him.
"Seraphine! I thought you and father were still away."
The woman, Seraphine, sighs heavily as she pulls away. She heads over to the fridge and grabs a blood pack. "Yeah, well, more clans are following Orsova than we thought. There've been rumors that they've found someone like Ambrogio who's adding vampires to weaker clans. They already got rid of one vampire who had the Draven clan crest on them. And she was not an original member."
Nia gawks at her as she sinks her fangs into the blood pack. When it's drained, she turns to me and smiles faintly.
